If you have a PC you obviously have polishing and cutting pads. These need to be cleaned. I have been using a product by Pinnacle that does a pretty good job but we are just about out and the stuff is expensive, I think its around 15$ a bottle and it never seems to get the pad all the way clean. Well tonight I tried washing the pad with Dawn Dish Detergent. Know how they say this stuff takes the wax off? Well it will clean your pads beautifully, just like new. Just make sure you rinse and get it all out. I throw it in the dryer after washing. Just a tip.

I wonder if it will work to remove dry wax from black trim?

FP, here's a hint for you. To get rid of heavy, long chain hydrocarbons (wax), use a solvent of highly volatile short-chain hydrocarbons.

We used it (Dawn) on Imafink's last Saturday and it didn't seem to affect the black plastic one way or another. It did eat all the wax off his car which is what we were trying to do. He had some stuff (I think it was Back to Black) that did darken it up. He put it on with his fingers and the plastic got nice and dark. I think it mighta eaten his fingers off though. Seriously FP I think the answer to your question would be no. It just works on them pads.

If you use "ICE" you will have no residue on black trim. Just the opposite, it improves the appearance. Gives me six month endurance. I use it on my Mini also which has a lot of black trim..interesting product...

Nice find! Yeah, when I started detailing I used all of these expensive Microfiber cleaners and foam pad cleaners. Now, straight simply green concentrate is all I need for my pads. For my microfibers, Era laundry detergent mixed with some simply green works just fine, followed by distilled white vinegar for the wash. These overpriced solutions are simply the supplier's way of making huge profits.
