Unhappy Will this buff out??

color=black]Dodge Ram 1, Crossfire 0[/color]

I am in the Army, and would like to say that this accident put me in a bit of a predicament. An officer that can’t drive hit my car.

Who would have thought that my first mods would be new paint, fender, bumper, and taillight.

OB1 Kenobi did this in a parking lot. Swung the truck around, thought he was close, got out looked, saw he had room, put the Ram in drive and "gunned it into the parking spot" (quote from his statement)... six of my co-workers saw and detained him. He is the rear-detachment commander...

The quarter panel is bent in three different directions and busted all the way to the metal... From what I have been told by Daimler Chrysler, there are only two authorized Daimler repair centers on Oahu... I doubt that the repair shops here are going to get this right. The driver has USAA for insurance, so I HOPE that there are no issues.

Me and this car are not off to a good start.

Sorry to see the damage to your car.

What does being in the Army have to do with anything? He was wrong and you have witnesses.

Authorized Daimler repair centers? Any auto body shop can work on your car. Ask around and find one with a good rep.

And relax, a car is a car, is a car. There is nothing so special with the Crossfire that any good body shop can't handle.

Good luck with the repairs and I'm glad no one was hurt.

Being in the Army has to do with the jerk outranking me and being completely unprofessional (laughing about the damage to my car). It was very disturbing and I am ethically limited to what I could say/do. The body seams are done differently on american cars than they are on European cars. I have been told that there is a place here on island that specifically deals with Euros...now I just need to find out if USAA will pay... What sux more than anything else is that this car is only 3 weeks old... I don't even have plates yet.

Jess, sorry to hear about your misfortune. It just goes to show that sometimes "rank" has nothing to do with intelligence, and some "numb nutz" love to pretend they're above everybody else. (his quote, and his attitude proves that. Just make sure they replace the bumper (and not try to "massage" the plastic back into shape). A good body man can work wonders pounding out the 1/4 panel, by the looks of your photos, I don't think you going to have to worry about seem alignment, or gaps being off. Just be glad you got black paint, (no problems with the paint not matching) Good Luck dealing with the insurance co.

Officer or no officer he is legally liable for the damage. If you have to sue him in small claims court. If his insurance doesn't pay or gives you any crap; turn it in on yours; they will repair your car and then go after his insurance company for reimbursement. It will not affect your premium since you were not at fault.

That really stinks. I'm with GP2. Just have a copy of that police report (did he get a ticket at all?) and make the phone calls asap to his ins. co. and if they won't give you any answers tell them you're going to talk to your lawyer, and go to your own ins. co.

It s not you and your car getting off to a bad start! Don't let that get you down. There are jerks everywhere.
Good luck and keep us posted!
