Magniflow Cat-back ready to ship !
Patience my friends, I only got this thing on Friday.
I'll get with my audio engineer friend soon, he's a busy free-lancer in the local film/video production biz and much in demand. I'm not going to make a half-assed recording; that wouldn't do anybody any good.
Regards the value; two big polished double wall tips and a pair of polished stainless mufflers would be about $300 - $350 dollars by themselves, stainless mandrel bent tubing ain't cheap either. Even if I got my racecar fabrication friend to have done the work for free I'd be hard pressed to duplicate this system for less than $500 bucks.
Now the rice racer thing is another deal. I've heard lots of Hondas and other Jap cars with tiny engines and oversize mufflers. This does not sound like any of those. Honestly, and I know I'm showing my age here, It most reminds me of a Triumph TR6 with an aftermarket exhaust system.

Hello Folks,
I'm still trying to get together with my audio guy to make a recording of the Crossfire Magnaflow cat-back system.
If you'd like to see the installed system, check out my member's gallery.
I also have pictures up of the AMG intakes/air boxes on my car.
Cheers,
Cincinnati Slim

Just discovered I am too conservative. I prefer a forged steel pistol such as a CZ75 with German loaded 9P...Don't like hammerless plastic that wont shoot Euro subgun ammo with insensitive primers. Also see no need to replace an original exhaust system which is already 304 stainless steel and quiet as good German cars should be...No Jappy zip zap here. Perhaps some day after I modify engine to produce more HP and need more flow...

Arado, I'm I near downtown Cincy in Northside and have a new black six speed base coupe. What flavor Crossfire are you driving ?
No arguments regards plastic pistols. I'm fond of my Kimber Pro Carry.
My problem is I'm just an old hotrodder gear-head and can't leave well enough alone. The factory exhaust is indeed of very high quality with clever engineering and packaging executed with excellent craftsmanship. I have it hanging on a wall so I can admire it at will. It is really easy to change the exhaust back to stock so this is a easily reversible mod.
There are so few aftermarket parts for these cars I thought I'd step up to volunteer to try out this new item on my Crossfire. It really doesn't sound like a Jap car but it is rather Rude and Roarty compared to the stock exhaust system. Given the tight confines of the stock system the DCX engineers did a really good job of making a quiet, efficient and nice sounding exhaust.

Slim, I have a one month old Special edition base roadster in red. Replaced seats with leather/power from Ebay/salvage, wired to accommodate. Installed Rivnuts for plates. Waxoyled car top and bottom to stop corrosion. Cut and fitted carpet to preserve original. That is the limit to my projects on car till now. After I research SLK/SRT system I may fit supercharger from salvage. Depends if electronics compatible.. I am near Vandalia, north of Dayton...CCW is KelTec P3At .380. Tiny but plastic...Foot in mouth...

As for the exhaust, why not just order the Magnaflow muffler and weld it in there? Who needs the whole exhaust?

p.s. I could pull this system off and put the stock one back on in about twenty minutes If I had access to a lift...
The "y" pipe joins the back half of the exhaust with a three bolt flange. 13mm bolts and 11mm nuts if I remember correctly. There is a metal "dounut" gasket in between.
Really nothing to it. My car only had 2,000 miles on it so the hardware wasn't even rusty yet. If your nuts and bolts are really crusty you may want to get a new set in case you destroy the old ones trying to get 'em off. The rubber hangers will sip off with a little rubber compatible lube. They make a little metal hooky thing with a handle to help reach up and unhook the exhaust hangers. I've seen 'em in parts stores for about ten bucks. Really helps getting the two on the rear end of the muffler on and off, especially if you have big fat hands and fingers.
This is about as easy as exhaust work can get. Pretty much guarantee you'll skin a knuckle or two and cuss a few times fighting the rubber hangers but it'll all be done with in less that an hour!

Why they have this up before Magnaflow does is baffling to me but, here you go folks !

Anyone know when Magnaflow will have pictures of the new CAT Back system on their web page ? I would love to put this on my 2004 Crossfire; but I want to see it and maybe hear it first.
Fighter,
Follow the link on my last post to the www.hottexhaust.com website.
There is a engineering drawing and a description there.
Or check out my member's gallery pictures of the system installed on my car !
I E-mailed Magnaflow today and suggested they get some drawings or pictures up.

well http://magnaflow.com now has the crossfire exhaust listed as "Now Available." However, they do not have pics, price, instructions, or sound clips yet.
