click in steering wheel?
Well since I bought the car it has a clicking in the steering wheel only when you first start to turn it. So I took it to dealer and the mechanic said it's because its the worm gear steering box and it's supposed to do that so they won't warranty. Does anybody else's do this?
No the mechanic is wrong it's not the design of the worm gear box. WAFI!!!
I have heard others on the forum say that there is a bolt in the steering shaft that can loosen up, first sign is your steering wheel has excessive play while the engine is running. But it could be something in the blinker housing.
Find another dealership pronto!

It could also be that you are over-rotating the steering wheel and hitting the internal or external stops too aggressively.
I have no idea how bad it is or if we're just over reacting to the sound of the wheel topping out on the stops.
It may be normal unless you I can get a sound file on here so that we can hear what's really going on.

I can try to describe it. Even with the car off I have both wheels strait or any way it's like it has play in the wheel and all I have to do move it an inch and you can hear what almost is like a clunk or click and you can feel it. I can even hear it coming from somewhere in the steering gear box. it only does it the first inch or so of turning the wheel then it catches and the wheel turns normal without any sound.
Nope. It almost feels like something's loose...I lifted the car and just kinda looked under it today when I put on my exhaust and nothing looks loose but when I had someone turn the steering wheel it sounds almost like the box. I am going to try and get a video on a phone if I can get it to work.

Same exact thing, but not only can I feel the 'click' in the wheel, I can also feel it in the accelerator pedal sometimes. Just a vibration, doesn't effect the throttle.
Also, mine only clicks about a 1/5 rotation of the steering wheel to the left and a 1/16 turn to the right.
Any ideas on this??? I thought it might have something to do with the colder weather starting in.

the best part... the steering will feel completely different... eliminating the (back-n-forth) slop in the rack... the car will feel much more connected to the roadway and tight.
hope this helps... cheers.
Thanks! This is good to know.
When i went out earlier today, it was a bit warmer out and there was no click... soo...
I'm due for a tune up and I'll tell them to tighten the bolt.
