Is there a better Merc intake that can be swapped onto the N/A and retain stock look like the SL55 for the SRT guys? If so are performance numbers comparable? I know the SL55 works within a couple HP of the CAIs available, I would gladly give up 2-3hp to retain stock appearance.

Honestly guys, I have yet to have any issue with my DIY dual air. I drive about 200 miles every other weekend to Houston From College Station and have never had and issue. No high temps, bogging down, hesitation, idle problems, nothing. I guess I am lucky. Granted, NW and TVT are pro-products, but I just wanted looks. I am not going to race anyone. JMO.

By the way, The air horns were moved down to increase air flow to radiator. Just wanted something louder than the OEM horn.

Borican, do your intake tubes go out to the area right behind the grill through the wall?

Spectre did a great job designing a universal fit all cai kit for most cars. are the pipes at the Y a different color/polish than the rest of the pipe? other than that they look great and i am sure you get some great gains from your setup.

How hard was it to make the cut-outs for the tubes? I want to extend my tube out like that?

I used 2 3/4" Flex Pipe(AutoZone) to get around the radiator. I just cut out the baffle it self and left the bottom piece. It's a pain to do but worth it.

Mrphotoman- Yes the pipes after the Y are regular 3" Pipes from Intaketubes.com . it's two 90's and two Straight pipes.

Your Y pipes do not sit on top of (touch) the manifold do they?

Also 4 free oil filters and a T-Shirt

Needswings - A quality product worth the money IMO
VALKRYDERGUY does the Needwings CAI groupbuy come with all the items you mentioned ( DVD with full detailed instructions for a complete install, 4 free oil filters and a T-Shirt) ?

Thanks,

Good job on that clean engine bay! I also use K&N Cold Air Intake for my N/A Crossfire.

Can you make us a shopping list of what you used and where you got it? I'm thinking about doing the same thing but having the filters down in the lower grill area. Also, what year 1100 V-Star? I have one too. An '06 1100 Midnight that is black on black and had a few other things coated flat black to really tie it all in. Haven't been out on it enough this year though and it's starting to get chilly here in MN in the evenings. Where did the summer go?!

The list is on Thread #18 on this page below. Hit me up if you run into any issues. I haven't and It's been it's been alomst 7 months now since I did it.

https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...=intake+%24150

By the way, I used 2 3/8 metal flex pipe to get around the ends of the Radiator. Had to take out the plastic that was there first and attached the piping to the inside end, the filter to the side behind the grill. I wanted my filters to get a little more air than it would in the engine compartment that's why I used two filters. they are about 5" in round, 8" long. Something like that. It feels like it has more pick up, but then again, it's probably just me. LOL.

Oh yeah, I have A 2001 V-Star 1100 Classic. I love my white walls.
