My Dad's 1984 Ford Bronco II with the V6 was the worst I ever did. To get at the plugs near the firewall you had to go in thru the wheel well. Ford actually had a spot marked on the wheel well liner where you cut out a small rectangualr area. Plug was directly behind and nearly a straight shot to get at it. When you were finished, you mounted a cover patch (Ford item) over the opening with some self-tapping screws.

06 cts sport package. That was a the worst I have done. It has a tower brace that has to be taken off then some intake thing. Took me about four hours to get everything finished. It made the crossfire seem easy.

its not too hard i used a swivel extension and 1 1/2 extension. removed the coil packs, popped off the wires with a 15mm wrench pushing against the block. the back plug on both side i had to assemble the wratchet and extension on the plug. takes about 1 hour.

The P.T. Cruises a a little bit of a pain also. You have to remove the Intake Manifold. Don't forget to replace the gaskets either.

Even on my 94 v6 camaro the plugs near the back part of the motor are a pain ni the rear. A few cuss words later I'd eventually get them replaced.

Try a minivan, the 95 Ford Windstar for instance, then we talk about shooting engineers.... The three spark plugs close to the firewall are just impossible...XFire inot too bad.

OMG!

Finally just did mine this afternoon. What a pain! Actually many pains. Worst in over 30 years of changing plugs.

Didn't remove the coil packs, which would have made it easier, but it did keep the wires in order.

Just under 40,000 miles, and the original plugs were COOKED! Don't believe the FSM's "100,000 miles, or 75K under rough service". If mine were like most, 35,000 miles would be about right. BTW, the originals were generic-looking NGK's, but with MB symbols on them.

Every step was a challenge, all the way to making sure each boot did its final pop-on which wasn't at all easy even after using silicone grease.

Do yourself a big favor and file-smooth the corners and edges of the two aluminum heat shields in the back of the bay before you start this project.

Test-started the XF, but haven't taken it for a drive yet. Wounds are bleeding too much.

I actually did mine last weekend. It was time, just passed about 18k miles on this set with only a few, rare track days.

I actually did mine in two steps. I replaced the wire with Magnacors' a few weeks before, and that was the hardest part.

When I went to change the plugs this past weekend it only two a couple hours, because the wires came out much easier than the OEM wires with the metal expanding shroud.

Also did a battery reset at the same time as I changed the plugs...just cause.

I always disconnect the battery when changing them. So maybe next time will only be 2 hours for me! Yes, biggest pain in the ars indeed!

Going to do mine this week I think I'll follow your lead here. Thanks

Got my new plugs and wires from Needswings in record time, Thanks Rob! I installed them yesterday using the good directions supplied by Waldig. Thanks, Waldig! It went much better and faster than I could have imagined. And it runs fine. The old plugs had 52000 on them and while no the worst I'd ever seen were worn some. they were all .045 or so and dark brown. I just took the coil packs off for room and made the drawing for the wire locations. It only took me about 2.5 hours.

When you do the plugs, use antiseeze lube in moderation. To remove the plugs and install them before you torque them, use a short rubber hose to grab the top of the plug. Use the hose to twist and twirl the plugs out and in. The rubber hose keeps you from crossthreading the plugs, TAAA DAAAAA.
