Just thinking out loud here, but how cool would it be to swap in the S/C V8 from the Mercedes McLaren SLR?! It's the same size as the V8 in the E/S/SL/CL55 as far as I know, just beefed up.

On the other hand, they almost never come up for sale. Still, it'd be so awesome to shoehorn that engine into a Crossfire. 626 bhp ftw!

So, Rudy, what's the price of a V8 swap? I just wanna know how long it's gonna take me to save up for it!

yes, cost and prep? Do we need to come up with V8 or is Rudy finding them? Harness? I would assume that we find great deal on 55K and harness, invite Rudy to our home/shop for a month and BAM!!! SuperFire.

 

It is best to find an engine from a car totaled in the rear. you need engine, complete harness and Engine ECU computer. It would also be advisable to get other parts unique to the 55K such as the intercooler pump and heat exchanger.

 

I talked to Rudy briefly on this, and while he didn't give me a number...which I didn't expect him to....he did say that you could probably buy another crossfire for the cost...and that doesn't include the crossfire you'd need to put it in.

Same exact swap no difference at all as long as you are starting with an R170 SLK320. Technically there are a couple small differences that would actually make the SLK just slightly easier... It is just a little easier using a MB ECU in a car that knows it is a MB than to use the MB ECU in car that thinks it is a Chrysler.

I already have a one of a kind Crossfire.....it would be nice to have a one of a kind SLK too. lol
I have really thought about trying to find an SLK 32 with a blown engine and swap my turbo kit over.

I think they've put the battery in the "spare tire compartment" (don't know if that is the right word).

 

all I can say, once you hear, ride, and feel the power of Taz's car....you will want one...just an amazing car...and it looks absolutely stock....just a great build...but, stay tuned, lol, Rudy isn't done yet....Accelerated Industries is stepping it up...
