Default HI Oil Level Alarm

During the Dragon Run this past Saturday, the HI Oil Level Alarm went off in my 07 Coupe. First time I've had this alarm. Changed the oil back in OCT/09 and added the 8.5 quarts of oil specified. Don't think I'm going to remove any oil at this point because I don't get the alarm anywhere else I drive the car. Didn't get the alarm going up Moonshiner 28 to Fontana. But did get it going down Moonshiner 28 going home (drove more aggressive since 'it was in my bones').

Anyone ever get this alarm at Fontana or anytime else?

When I FIRST got my car, I"d get the alarm on interstate on-ramps now and then, when making the curve at the end as I merged.

I have NO IDEA how much oil was in there, but I've done 2 or 3 changes since, always with 8 quarts of oil* - never seen the alarm again.

* Per Danimal's suggestion, he promised me I'd not see the alarm again.

Pull the dip stick and check level. I always run 1 extra qt, high on the dip stick because of turns. No issues here.

If level is high may be a sign of antifreeze or gas dilution of oil due to a stuck injector. Confirm meter reading but dont ever trust gauges.Woody

I pulled the dipstick earlier today. Level is definitely high. All the way up to the upper end of the red material. Will investigate further tomorrow.

Thanks,

Thanks,
when I change my oil I always pour in 7 quarts and then turn the engine over a few times without cranking it to get the oil circulated, then let it settle and then check it, it's always about 1 quart to low for obvious reasons, however it's much easier to add a little oil than take out. The 8 quart instead of 8 1/2 should be the ticket because it should put the oil level dead center of the add-full marks on the dipstick. too much oil can be a problem
