Newbie type questions
2005 xfire roadster with low miles being delivered tomorrow. Can't wait; nor for the weather to break. Anyway have been reading some conflicting things and want to get the thoughts of this learned body:
1. Gas. Hi-Test / 91 octane is recommended but I have read that it is not absloutely necessary.
2. Oil. Is synthetic really necessary / best?
3. Tires. All weather or sport?
Any thoughts very much appreciated by this xfire rookie!

you actually already know the answers to your own questions. If you don't want to use the recommended products for your car, you don't have to. The car will adjust timing for the lower octane, performance will suffer a little but not noticeable to those who don't drive hard often. The great oil, verses the good oil is what it is. If your aren't going to keep it for 100K miles, then use cheap oil. Tires, well, if you aren't going to the track, drive her to the upper limits, then all season radials are a good choice. Go even cheaper, and your handling will suffer, but, using the cheap oil, and cheap gas, you won't be worried about handling anyway. Sounded kind of smug didn't it. Always use the best car products if you really love your car and intend to keep it that way. It really doesn't cost all that much to keep her in top shape. Good luck either way, the car can take it. At least for awhile.
Welcome to the forum! pretty much any question you can think of about the xfire can be answered here.
1 as to the octane you can use lower test but i WOULDNT. here in Florida we got the 93 and thats all i use. with lower test fuel you are losing horsepower. the injectors and your possibillity for ideal combustion are being compromised. Treat her good use the premium
2. well with synthetic you will change your oil less often so it will save you money in the long run i.e 3,000 compared to 7,000 with synthetic
3. your call really i use sport because where i live its flat andwe have awesome weather all year round. But if i was to face snow sleet gravely roads etc. maybe i would go with all weather? i cant really say.
anyway welcome to the forum! happy posting!
