need new motor mounts
need new motor mounts
Left motor mount just blew and the shop I use can only dealer order the part @ $200 each. Anyone able to provide a better source for this part, and better price? There used to be a post on here with a dealer from TX selling parts for dirt cheap, but they changed their site and its not listing anything anymore. Where do some of you get your factory parts (preferably online)?
I also need the steering stabilizer but I will check the thread pertaining to that before asking where to get that for less than $130. lol

Re: need new motor mounts
Quick question for those who have gone through this..I've not lifted the car to see the entire layout yet, but on page 9-655 and 9-656 of the service manual, what is the diagram displaying and from what angle? I don't recognize this area. I've included a screenshot of the page.

If you are changing the part I posted (the rubber engine mount) you dont need to take off the bracket they are showing on those 2 pages of the service book you posted. If you want give me a call (i will PM you my number). A 2 min phone conversation is faster than 30 posts back and forth. all you need to do to change the mount yourself is get the front of the car on ramps or stands, and get a bottle jack to lift up one side of the engine at a time. Very easy. 2 bolts each mount.
EDIT: Just for everyone else who may need this info have a look at page 9-657 and 9-658 of the service manual and that shows the top bolt, heat shield, engine mount, bottom bolt. Do one side at a time, Lift the engine just enough to get the mount out and there will be no issues with anything else. Do not lift from the oil pan, that is why I used a bottle jack so that the skinny jack could go up past the pan and on the side of a steel bracket beside the rubber mount. There also might be a rubber boot covering your engine mount which comes out with the mount.
