Default Check Engine light on

Hello
Ok, today, we changed the oil on my '04 Crossfire. All went great. I had to play around a lot with changing the FSS reading. Finally got it set to start 7,000 miles again.

During the process, the Check Engine light came on and stayed on. I was super low on fuel (gas pump icon was on) so I filled her up. Check Engine light still on. The car is running great. And, like I said, NO engine light on until I was messing with resetting FSS mileage deal.

Anyone?
Thanks!
Cissy

Take her to AutoZone and they will read the code for free. Once we have the code, we can tell you what to do from there.

Hey Doc.... You sure are up late. I took the family to Tybee Island and Savannah today, and we just got home. We had some wonderful seafood and a great day.

Thanks, BMorgan. We may do just that if the light remains after the holiday.

That's the very first thing I did. Yep, on tight as always. I wish it were that simple. This only happened after I was trying to reset FSS. I had to play with it several times before it reset successfully....then the Check Engine light came on. Never happened before. <sigh>

Wouldn't you know it? Light went out. We'll see what happens next. If it comes back, I'll take it from there. Thanks!!

Well, Cissy: the next time you're just going by an Autozone or Advance Auto, just wheel on in and ask them to read your codes. It would be nice to know...

Yea the code(s) will be there even tho the light is out.

I have never heard of the FSS setting the light, and believe it - many of us had to TRY and TRY to get that thing to reset.

It would be very interesting to see what codes(s) you have.

It always takes me at least 5 tries before it resets as it did this time.....then the dreaded engine light. Anyway, ASAP I will get to Autozone!

Thanks!
