Default Catalytic converter setup

I need to replace the right rear cat and it seems on my srt6 the system on the car is not the same as the parts book. The book shows on assembly with both rear cats converging into a single pipe to the resonator just before the muffler. My car has dual pipes with an h pipe each cat is separate. Anyone run into this? What did you wind up doing?

As you can see its a bit different than what is listed in the parts book. the right section is welded to the cat from the front, parts at chryler shows a flanged front section for the right and on the left section it is the front plus the two rear cats into a single pipe

It appears you're looking at the catalog for the NA Crossfire.

Each cat should be separately serviceable on the SRT-6. Personally, I would simply replace them with 200-cell versions and gain a horse or two.

Does the state law require you to use OEM parts? Or can you simply replace with an aftermarket, as long as the total cat-count on the car matches the factory specs?

If you have less than 80,000 miles the catalytic converters are covered under federal emission warranty.

Here is pics of my SRT6 cat's when I had the resonator deleted.... flangs appear to be in front of front cats and behing the second cat's......

and I recall that the muffler shop had to un-bolt the exhaust at the manifold, not behind the first cat's...

Yep the same. Looking at the parts group it appears the manifolds arw the same on both engines, but the piping layout is different and nothign listed for the srt6. Going to call chrysler on monday to see. the mercedes casting number on one of the brackets is A 170 490 09 19 pduced in July of 2004, waiting on the MB dealer to get back to me on if they have it
