transmission shifting funny
I have a 04 NA limited that was fine when I put it away for the winter last year. I pulled it out last week to take it to my detailer. noticed when I used the auto stick to down shift it stuck in first gear and would not come out untill you stoped the car and went to park and turned the car off. then it would reset and be fine. also noticed i went to pass someone and was in the gas pertty hard when it shifted from 4th gear to limp mode or nutral. does anyone else experinced this and if so please tell me what is wrong or what you might think is wrong does not do this all the time if you drive like a little old lady it is fine

If you just have them check the fluid level and top it off you can see if that fixes your problem..
If you do a tranny service and they change the filter then they will be dropping the pan and have the plate right there.... but you should have it checked to see if the plate is bad before you swap it out....

All,
I am having a similar problem with my 04 coupe with 56k miles as well.
I have been noticing a small spot here and there in my garage and am assuming that it is the transmission fluid.
My issue is that if I make a left U-Turn (which I do everyday as I leave work), the tranmission shifts a little funny and one i am done making the U-turn it drives just fine.
I am thinking my transmission fluid is low so having a drain and fill this weekend and have the cup seal and o rings changed and probably the seal and filter change will correct the problem.
I will send an update once I get it done over the weekend.
Since Xfire uses a synthetic transmission fluid, what is the actual color of the fluid? From looking at the fluid spots in the garage, the fluid is transparent as opposed to being red. I had the car checked by the Chrysler dealer about 3000 miles ago and they didn't mention of any leaks what so ever.

I would go ahead and add some fluid before you take it to shop. Just to know if that will fix, If u should over
fill i think it will blow the excess out to prevent damage. Maybe add a half a quart at a time! When my xfire
did this i add a quart and it fixed it. Also i would think it would be better to get transmission serviced not for
a shifting problem just a leak. You would be leaving to many options open for a expensive repair. You may
also furnish your own fluid etc, and, are watch them when they change it, to be sure they use the correct

I agree. I am having a friend who is an awesome mechanic do this at his fully equipped home garage:-)
I really wish this car had a dip stick for the transmission which I am planning to order but won't have it this weekend as I get this done.
He has asked me to get about 4-5 quarts of Mopar tranny fluid so that we stay consistent with what we are adding to the existing one after we drain it.
Now am I right with the color of this fluid? The spots in my garage look very transparent like the synthetic motor oil.
Thanks!
