BEGi Turbo Kit information/discussion thread
Come on guys, give Corky a break. The key here is patience, patience boys.
You don't see me ranting and raving and I still have $ 200.00 invested.
It's only been about 15 months disguised as 8 to 10 weeks. It takes time to do quality work..could be a year or two more. It is what it is.

No rants and raves..
Hostage rescue and reciprocating feedback ops being strategized ...
Now back off the soap box..
Guess me and the Miata can sneak over to those front lines and recruit some of those happy customers..
Lead in with "At 180k should I consider the BEGi turbo kit"..sounds like good bait.. LOL

Not edgy, John, just that whole non-existent tone thing on the interwebs throwing me off, my apologies.
Would those of you who are taking the time to post here please post a quick question on his FB page?
Only 2 of us have asked, that pales in comparison to the number who are interested. It doesn't take but a minute, but I am sure seeing 15-20 posts about the same thing on his page will garner some attention, maybe?

I tried to rallying a number of people earlier hoping to use the numbers to put more pressure on the build. As a unified voice I think we would have garnered more attention.
I think going out of the forum is a good idea, it may help other people from going down this road and getting scammed. It will cover and help a broader audience.
Thanks for jumping in and stepping up to the plate. This build could use all the help it can get to get completed
The delays are absolutely unacceptable, but I am still hoping down deep he finishes it.
I will continue to keep pressure on them in a semi-professional manner
I have no skin in the game either, but if they can come up with a nice FI kit for the XF, it would make all the SRT guys think twice before trying to pull hard on us, not to mention to the mustangs and Camaros you would shock

In fact decided an email was in order..
Well more promises and no performance.
You think dyno day will produce enough revenue to refund my deposit?
Seems I recall "updates after Thanksgiving" was your statement.
Ever have "one of those days".. LOL. Decided to stop off a facebook too.."honesty" was todays subject in the blown motor thread..
Where's the "honesty" in the Crossfire build that started well over a year ago? Stories of a Miata going home with the turbo in the trunk come to mind. Is this the fate of CF1 when he finally says "uncle" to not having his car almost a year and a half?

I was surfing through the begi facebook stuff... No post's since last year.......
But what is really scary....Corky Bell's FB page says "Former Boss" at Begi and that was posted over a year ago?
I think I'm giving up on FI and going V8.
Hope you all get your refunds back or a kit....

If it is done and looks factory, you will have one jealous guy right here. Keep us posted...
(I met and spoke at length with Justin who is the one who owns suicidedoors.com and did the kit for the XF, great guy, great kit, if I was not finishing my basement, I would have jumped all over that)

So I'm thinking about trying out this kit:
STS Turbo, Inc. - Universal
I contacted STS and they showed me this kit. Hooking it up is easy as far as I can tell. What is the problem with the tuning? From what I understand the N/A motor can work with the 74mm MAF sensor. I can't find the link right now but I thought some people were pushing 22lbs in their SRT6. So obviously the MAF can read the low boost that we will be pushing with our turbo.
So bolt on the turbo, swap out the MAF, do a throttle reset and let everything adjust. Bam, pure bolt on turbo kit??

You need to read some threads from the past.. if it was that easy we'd already have turbo.
MAF does not account for compressed dense air. So put in a sensor.. teach your ECU to read it along with fuel and timing maps and your done. Easy peasy right... LOL

Thank you for clearing that up. I don't know much about forced induction.
btw mr. miata nice self portrait avatar almost looks like you And what part of "don't start none.. won't be none" did you not learn already?
For those of you watching at home...
Today's progress, seems the social media campaign has had a lot more effect than anticipated, we will see if it yields any actual results.
BEGi / Bell Engineering Sorry, I've been out of the office sick with pnemonia. All of the turbo system parts are built except the shield/box for the air filter, and the oil return pump needs a mounting bracket. All other items are done. Including the: intercooler, turbo to exhaust, intercooler tubes, etc. Parts have been removed as of last week to make fixtures to reproduce the parts. All fixtures are made except one intercooler tube, oil pump mount, and the sheild/box for the air filter. We have someone coming in Thursday to bolt everything back up on the car. If it all fits well, we are sending the tubes to powder coating. While the tubes are being coated, we will bolt on the FMU for testing and install the coolant and oil lines. The car running depends on a couple of things. But it should be running in about 10 days.
John Tilka Thank you for the update. Is there any additional info on how the tune is going to work? I know at first (a long time ago) it was based on a Kleeman technique, but not sure if that worked out or has been scrapped for another option. We have been told for about 6 months there would be updated photos on the website, any chance you could upload some of those for us to take a look over? Thank you
BEGi / Bell Engineering Corky wants to try the fuel pressure regulator first. If that does not work, we will flash the ECU. I will get some photos done this week showing all the tubes and stuff. I will also post some photos of the install as well.
Greg Pylant So you guys have been so busy that the pump that came in before Thanksgiving still hasn't been dealt with at all? FMU ... what happened to ECU? Wasn't programming it the initial intent?

Stainless steel lines.. where they putting these? Or do they mean just the oil lines...
The rumors are true! The prototype vehicles arrive at the end of January. The rear mounted turbo system will feature a Garrett or Chinese turbo, stainless lines, and BEGI quality components. See the Crossfire Forum for more information!
Just reading through the Facebook post.. that instills no faith they really have a clue.. Guessing and hoping this far down the road.. really?

FYI, The Kleemann system was based on BEGI and they used to by the fuel regualtors from Corky. This approach was the idea and I don't understand why it was abaondoned wihout trying it. Keelmann was 100% positive his setup would work with a turbo.
I didn't notice any reference to FMU in the Kleeman install kit..? Am I mis understanding something here or is the variable rate regulator what this references?
