BEGi Turbo Kit information/discussion thread
I guess that's the million dollar question, isn't it... I mean besides the whole driving a 6 speed thing, I'm really having a hard time figuring out why I wouldn't just trade in my limited and use the $$ I'd spend on a turbo to offset the extra cost of the SRT over the limited... Admittedly, this is the first manual car I've owned so maybe I'm not as indoctrinated with the "rowing my own gears" mentality, but when you take out the 6speed argument, is there any other justification to this project? Moreover, if someone already drives an automatic limited, I'm having a hard time seeing the incentive... and maybe that's what BEGi figured out as well?
It's that ironing board thing.. that's all...
And the SRT6 guys are trying to get us limited guys to abandon ship so the price goes up on the sixes..
Conspiracy theory.. they have probably funded corky to postpone development!

oledoc2u, I couldn't disagree with you more, 8 to 10 weeks was more than adiquit time to do the job. He didn't appear to open the hood for the first 4 months. 8 weeks would have given them time to do the job and error on the side of caution, 10 weeks if things went really, really bad.
No, all builders have their work come out late, it cuts into thier return customers and reputation. We are pretty well stuck with this builder.
To get a group of people like we have and find a new builder would be impossible. Everbody would be gun shy. Nobody in their right mind would give up their car for 2 to 4 weeks and have this happen.
I think being patient and not pressuring this builder to fulfill his obligations, was a error in our judgement. The impression is they have CF 1 forever, wonder what the mileage is now and how much rubber is left on the tires.
Buying a SRT wasn't a option. Their prices were 10 grand more + than in the States , and you couldn't find them. Not that wild about the ironing board thingy on the back either.
Picking up your 2005 Crossfire Coupe Limited wore the price tag of $ 49,595.00 before taxes in Canada. I paid half that with 7000 KM. I guess that 10 grand more means a surperior model in Canada.
Mobil 0W40 oil from Mercedes Dealer will cost you $ 13.80 a Litre, I buy mine in the states.
Everybody going on the Dragon, drive save and have fun. Don't forget you can't have too much fun. Maybe I'll make it next year without my Soapbox.

The forum is a process for many members to show support and disappointment at how this process has gone on. Out of respect for the member that has a car tied up for 10 months we don't each phone Corky and Begi. We originally were going to have one voice working with direct updates and pictures. Out of respect for tighed1 , who has paid in full, and sacrificed his car for the greater good of all of us, we decided to not pursue this. We hoped voluntary updates and pictures would be forthcoming to the customers.
We are at the point where we perhaps should have a spokesperson in touch with the builder, but without tighed1 approval it would be wrong to go this route
I will continue my soapbox rants with my opinion and and others can add their voice or not read it.
BOILERUPXFIRE If you are going to the Dragon , enjoy yourself, drive safe and above all stay out of the water.

Seems there have been a few of us "gently" touch base with them on updates.. bjames laid it out pretty well in his post. Don't know DJ's thoughts on things but as long as he can deal with it, I'll be there next in line.. for a refund or turbo whichever way the chips fall.
My hope when this started (and my timeline assumption) was that I would have the kit installed just in time for the fall dragon. As patient as I am it is sad that we are not at that point yet. After this wait some of this cash has gone towards other mods and products as well. At this point my view has shifted from "finally someone who is serious enough to do this and able to get it done" to "please give us an update so we know its not dead" I was ok with the spotty bi monthly communication as it was at least consistently coming at that pace, now..... I think even the hardcore would like to be thrown a bone. As long as its not dead I will hold onto the hope that the NA will get its day in the spotlight. Creeping close to 80K now a completely different engine may be a brighter future if this doesn't get on the move though.
When we were laying bets as to the hp increase, mine was that Tighed1's car specifically would see no increase. I based that on the assumption that his would not be modified at all as the project would be either cancelled or he would run out of patience. The longer this goes on the chances of me being correct get better but worse for others.

I have fallen to the same Airscape, my funds were ready, then used on something needed, ready again, and used on something else needed. At this point I am not expecting it to be completed and I am not saving for it. If it is produced and ready then I will start saving again.
Just as long as they remember to wash their feet and change their socks regularly.

Well I've "done it", not just close but did it, then had to sell my supercharger. The illness in the family is still there and I need to get past Christmas before I start the rebuild. Until then I'll have a few more parts to sell off as I need the cash. When I return, I plan on building a turbo. If corky's is here by then, I'll buy the base and go to my own version of a stage III. If not, l'll build my own as fast as I can afford to buy the parts.
The tuning isn't all that hard once you figure it out. It also wouldn't be anything with the right tools and/or business relationships. The only thing holding up a turbo for the limited is the market. Nothing else, there is no magic here.
