Electric fan question?
Just for sh*^s and giggles does anyone know the cfm that the stock electric fan pulls? I was just wondering if there is a universal I could buy to replace that pulls stronger. I'd leave it running all the time since being in Texas heat is always an enemy. Plus just the thought of a massive beast of a fan I always like.
It amazes me that 100/80 hasn't grabbed his slide rule (I know he owns one), measured his fan, estimated rpms for full speed - and posted a calculation that is within 10%.
I've been waiting, Dave. Where you been?

Surely the CFM would be quite a variable number, dependent as it is on fan RPMs, altitude, temperature ?, grille design and vehicle speed.
I'll go with the scientific answer and say quite a lot to very little.

Not sure if you've ever heard your fan @ 100% or not, but when it needs to, it spins like a turbo prop. I can't answer your question about CFM, but I believe our fan is up to the task when it is told to by the controller. I've run autocross in 105deg.heat and never climbed past 206deg. ECT, even after heat soak at the end of the day. If you haven't already, remove the rear hood gasket to let some heat escape. You can also run a more diluted coolant in the summer (25%/75%)for example, for better cooling. I run 100% distilled water and a bottle of Water Wetter from Needswings in my IC circuit most the year round since we rarely freeze here, but I do add/mix a little antifreeze in if we expect a freeze.
I would you a killer chiller but being in Houston the A/C is very much needed at its peak performance!
