Default Another Strange Transmission issue

Ok. So bear with me.

I've got a 2005 Crossfire with auto transmission.

In normally driving mode the autobox selects gears as and when. When I use the semi auto feature manually changing gears works all fine.

Now for the strange issue.....If I accelerate hard.....like racing it like I stole it the autobox doesn't change up gear......hitting the rev limiter.....I back off the accelerator slightly and the gear changes up....same again and again for each gear. Any immediate thoughts? Would replacing the auto gearbox ecu resolve the problem? I can pick up a 2nd hand ecu for around £60 which isn't too bad. And my next question will be where is the ecu located......

Thanks

Check the fluid level of your transmission first. There is kit for that since the transmission fluid level is not measured by a standard dipstick.

Any ideas where I would get such a kit? UK?

I've got a road test and code checker arranged for early next week with a reputable company in Glasgow, so will hopefully get the issue narrowed down.

This is the kit. I would not necessarily buy it from an EBAY vendor except as a last choice.

Dipstick? There are a lot to be found in our local dealership.
There is a way to reuse the locking dipstick hole cover, but I have forgot how to do it. Of course Gorilla tape would do it as well.
The Mercedes dipstick for these cars can be found on eBay for about $7 including shipping, I used mine to pass a wire into the trunk a couple of times.

OK. So it looks like we've narrowed it down and the auto transmission ECU may be the route of the problem. Where is located in the crossfire? Usually the drivers foot well next to accelerator but would rather know which side before I start pulling trim off

I would say fold the carpet back,, reach to the top under the dash fold down the carpet ,,remove the three plastic nuts from the metal cover,,lift and fold down the metal (form holder) toward the seats the tcu is 5"x 4" black box 1/2" thick,,, if the wires going into the tcu is wet with tranny fluid that is a no no. dry it open it dry it clean it remove as much tranny fluid from the wires,,, go to the tranny replace the elect coupling put everything back and try it. jim
