So I bought this crossfire , a 2005 base convertible 6 spd . Occasionally , while driving , the "check coolant temp" comes on the display with a beep . It will stay on for a while then go away . The gauge seems to work properly ( starts from bottom and works it's way up to 1/2 or just slightly over in a reasonable amount of time) and according to the gauge it's fine . Coolant is full and burped . Upon physical inspection , it doesn't "seem hot." Fan works as it should . Any ideas? CTS was my thought ...

Are you sure? I've been an owner of three Roadsters and a member here for ten years. I've never heard of a text message in the display of the panel, other than the "Start Error" message when a SKREEM acts up or the "HI" when you overfill the oil level.
No, you aren't making it up, the issue here, I think, is that you are making an assumption that is not correct.

Unfortunately, the manual is probably the cause for this. Someone read the manual and put in 8 1/2 quarts of oil at the last change. The required fill is 8 quarts.
