04 XF 6spd manual 160,000 miles
6 owners before me ( car faxed )
I bought the car had it and been driving fine.. changed alot of basic maintenance items, the only thing I noticed driving it was from 2nd to 3rd could sometimes be so hard.
The problem is this I was driving to work hit 3000 RPMS and was shifting I was driving fast i guess...i hit like 50mph.and as i when to engage the clutch it immediately went to the floor got stuck rpms went way up and then i let off gas. Put in neutral and about 1 mile more finished to drive in work. I thought it was OK. However came out to leave and car started up fine and still does. But she sill NOT move
it will shift in all gears, when I shift gears with not running I hear the rattling of changing gears nothing sounds out of ordinary but by shifter feels alot more play in it since this happen.
I have Bled all brake lines and flushed and bleed the slave cylinder...i am lost. Is the clutch just shot? Is the a shifter cable broke ? I just don't know please any help would be so appreciated....
I don't know enough about how our clutches work -but it sounds like the springs that hold it "engaged" broke.
I don't see a way out of this, other than to drop the transmission and tear into the clutch itself. The service manual does not look helpful to me - I hate their sketch drawings.
This is ONE job I'd take to a shop I trusted.
