Engine, Exhaust, Transmission and DifferentialPost questions here that have to do with the engine, cooling system, air intake, exhaust, Transmission and Differential
I have an oil leak, from somewhere, either oil pan or rear main seal. Does anyone have experience with a product called AT-205 Re-Seal? I was thinking of trying it but am concerned if it has any effects on the engine. Thanks
May as well give it a try. All I would have to lose is $26. It will take about 11 oz so I had to order two 8oz bottles. Says it takes 5 hours of driving time to stop leaks. Saw a lot of video's that praised it as working. Hardly any gave it a negative result. I give updates are I try it.

Please help me understand. You’ve asked for feedback/ experience
you’ve received a few strong “do not recommend”
and them you go on the say “what do I have to lose?”
What I don’t understand is why even ask the question.
Oil additives have been available for a long time and always with questionable, limited results.
it’s just going to continue to leak and make an even bigger mess.
Why wouldn’t you take the time to locate the leak and repair it correctly? It takes time but they are all accessible
It's my understanding that it's not plugging anything but rather it's revitalizing the seals so they are pliable and a slight swelling of them.
I would sure appreciate it if you would document and report back exactly how much you use, how long you drive with it in the crankcase, and whether it stops the leaks or has any adverse effects. You've been really great about sharing your experiences of the first few months with your Crossfire since November. It's a '07 with 87K miles on it? It will help everyone if you give a follow-up report.
But...my tendency is to listen to an expert like Needswings, i.e., "100% recommend against it".

Good luck and have a Happy New Year!
Thanks for following my posts! With my first post I had indicated it was a 2007 year model but is actually a 2006. Couldn't figure out how to change the post to correctly indicate year model. Directions say 8oz for 6 qts of oil so for 8 qrts I figure a little less that 11 oz and is why I had to order two bottles. I don't have a "gusher" oil leak so I hope it works out for me.

If I was in the market for a Crossfire and I saw one for sale on this forum that caught my eye I would read all the posts written by the seller and get an idea on how the car had been cared for. I think your car would get passed over for consideration.
Just few bad decisions mentioned probably means more have not been mentioned.

Well that's ok with me. I have no intention of selling it anytime soon and at my age I probably won't have to sell it anyway! Let the children and grandchildren worry about it! Only things I have done is new chrome grill, new front suspension($1100), new front disc and pads, window tint, new shocks front / rear and new radio to replace the defective radio. $2330 in improvements so I'm sure nobody would want those. Sounds like your just expressing sour grapes for some reason.
Now is a great time to share that if you MODIFY an OEM setup in your vehicles, that you DOCUMENT those modifications so they are known to the next owner/owners OR remove them back to its OEM operations. So many posts about electrical or mechanical issues and it takes quite a lot of reply/counter-replies to find out the original setup or wiring was modified by (say) remote start/varmints/upgrades/additions like a backup camera system. There are also inquisitive ppl that break stuff trying to fix something, but fail to fix it and just iggy it or use a temp fix. Maintain a 'log book' and pass it on to the next owner! After you do that it'll be up to the new owner if it makes it to any other owners. Simple, and it'll have value as a selling point (and in my case a reminder of what was done and when). Having and using the shop service manual, when I change something identified in that manual, I put a FLYN (Funny Little Yellow Note) in that page(s) of that service manual. That ALSO increases it's (the car) value if you want and ask for a higher value than KBB.

I already did that the day I bought the car on a spreadsheet with date, part changed, cost and any mentionables. This is just a "used car" to me with styling and performance that I enjoy driving. I'm not a purest collector! If I can find a good parts at a savings over OEM parts that's what I'll do. It's a nice car that I enjoy but won't spend "gobs" of money putting expensive OEM parts if a more economical part is available.

You already know better, as is indicated in your post.

Confirmation of your concerns.

You weren't looking for advice, you were 'answer shopping',
Look everyone. I don't know what all this negativity towards my posts is all about. I'm asking questions and am getting some good opinions and or advice. But in the end it's my car and my decision what I advice I decide to take. Some of the old time forum members seem to think they can intimidate new members with their boundless experience. If you can't be subjective and helpful just don't say anything.
This was my original question and then the attack was on. "Does anyone have experience with a product called AT-205 Re-Seal?" If you did I'd like to here your comments otherwise you didn't need to comment! I thank you for anything you have to say that's constructive or helpful!

I tried it for about 1000 miles in my car no change. After doing some research it seems this product works better on the rear main seals of those found on SBC's (small block chevys) and other pushrod motors.
Any m112 or m113 will suffer from a leaking rear main seal as the motor approaches over 100k period. They will all leak in my opinion. Mine started at 150k, im up to 220k now and have not replaced it and it leaks the same minuscule amount since 150k. Its a 1k job at minimal since your dropping the trans.

Thanks for your input. Mine only has 90K, and guess being it's already ordered, I'll give it a try and give updates of it's performance after 5 or 6 hours of actual driving. Thanks again.

No post is helpful or constructive when you have already made up your mind to do something those with more knowledge and experience advise against (I'm referring to Rob at needswings specifically, not so much me.)
And no poster here can specify what answers are "allowed" in "their" thread, even us admins cannot do that. If you got your feelings hurt, don't worry it will happen again and you will get used to it. My first few ignorant posts here (I read them now and I can't believe what I did not know) , eleven years ago, were all answered with a least a few smart-*** remarks, - they still exist, you can read them starting here: https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...&pp=25&page=12
