Engine, Exhaust, Transmission and DifferentialPost questions here that have to do with the engine, cooling system, air intake, exhaust, Transmission and Differential
I need to replace one of the transmission cooler oil line that goes into the radiator but no longer available from dealer. I went to an hydraulic repair shop, but they won't do that kind of work ???
So I want to make one myself but I don't know the type of fittings MB uses.
This end goes .... (This line needs to be replace)
to that flexible hose .....
And this banjo fitting to the other end of the rigid line at the radiator:
In picture 1 and 2, what type of fitting is this ? DIN, JIC 37º or else ??? Can I silver solder hydraulic lines ?? I need to find the fitting in the first picture because the banjo fitting is pretty obvious !

Thank you !
No Mercedes part numbers stamped on any of these parts/lines that might help you?

These parts are used on millions of cars just like nuts and bolt, so why would they have Mercedes part numbers on them.
The hydraulic line assembly would have a Mercedes number on it.
I do know the M-B part number but like I said no longer available ! I know where to buy the banjo fitting, stainless tubing, flux and silver solder (56%) but the fitting in the first picture I have no idea what it is called or what type it is ??

Try Summit racing, also determine the thread size and tube size. I assume the fitting is brazed to the tube.
Hi guys,
Have been having an issue with the leak from transmission oil coolant line where it goes to the radiator (picture attached). So have been trying to find this part to fully replace it, but unsuccessfully, as it seems to be no longer in distribution. Any suggestions from whoever encountered this same problem on where to get/buy this line or what would fit ideally for 2005 srt6? Appreciate any help or hints.
Hi, I will probably run into the same issue…. do you think I need to worry about this what I have just seen, when removed the lower cover for an oil change? (I live in EU where the roads are still salted for winter). So is this a rust I need to worry? This is the same pipe, just from the bottom. I have seen some parts from Ebay that may fit here: https://www.ebay.de/itm/NEW-MB-SLK-R....m46890.l49286
And this is still in production.
Yes the one I listed from Eb@y is for an R170 SLK320. Just very hard to identify…
Has anyone have this pipe in such a rusted condition that my car has? I am at 185 th km and plan to replace transmission fluid soon… just planned to combine with the replacement of these pipes as well. Is this a good idea?
I have not noticed lately but there was a time when lines like this hung on the wall in auto spares shops. These days nobody wants money tied up in stock that may not sell for years.
You can make them your self if you can bend the shape you need, a pipe bender is required, just buy the individual parts and go to it.
After all how hard can it be?
Actually these hoses are discontinued at Mercedes also. I am starting to see a lot more Mercedes parts discontinued.
Yeah, since the r170 platform is over 20 years old now MB no longer has to keep making parts to support it. There is a coolant hose that goes from the back of engine block to the heater core that I just found is discontinued. I found a used one and have ordered it and hope it will work, mine had developed a nasty leak and was leaking coolant from the rear of the engine down the trans and blowing back under the car.
