Default Weird iddle issue

I'm having a strange throttle issue and unsure how to approach this/check.
50-80% of the time car starts fine, idles ok-ish (small fluctuation, like 150rpm or so) under 1000, maybe 900.
Other times one of these can happen
- starts fine, I back the car out of the garage, throttles ramps up to almost 2000 in about 8 seconds, cuts out and drops to 800, repeat
- starts and idles high like 2000, does the weird above little dance
If I turn it off and start it again it may be fine, or not.
This can happen at any time. Car would drive perfectly fine, I park it, leave it for an 15mn or overnight, start it back up and it's a coin toss.
Drives fine other than that, no CEL. I do not have a scan code with me so I don't know if any error code is logged.

Car particulars:
N/A (Not SRT6), 2004 130,000km (80,000miles), magnaflow exhaust, needswing dual CAI, and larger (used provided by needswing) throttle body - with new gasket. I have reset throttle body a half dozen times (key in, press brake, turn on, wait, etc...), I have disassembled and reassembled the CAI to check for vacuum leaks that could lead to unmetered air between MAF and throttle body and all looks fine too.

So far I am thinking:
- Bad MAF
- bad throttle position sensor (If so, could I swap the TPS under the plastic housing from my original throttle body, like, other than size, are they the same electronically?)
- loose connector on MAF/throttle body (I have a blinker that sometimes work and sometimes does not because of old connector so it could be likely)

EDIT: CPS ordered, will replace it at the very least it will be preventive maintenance. Will confirm if it changes anything

If anyone could remove some potential red herrings in my troubleshooting that would be great, thank!

Tricia's car in Georgia was doing that - it was a bad throttle body. I do not believe this failure is unique to the Crossfire, but is a common symptom that throttle bodies create when they go bad.
It may not be the TB, but that would be my first move....

Have you put a code scanner on it?

What John ( M60A3Driver ) said. You could throw parts at it until you get lucky and find out what it was (unless there is more than one system/subsystem that would make it much harder to diagnose). So, like John asked, see if you can get one (or more) codes and come back in and let us know.
