Tail light issues...
Okay so I have an 04 Crossfire that has been having some tail light issues.... My right tail light doesn't seem to be working, but when I press on the break the light comes on. Is there certain fuses that may be needing to be changed? I changed the bulbs like 5 times thinking maybe I just kept getting bad bulbs but nope that wasn't it.... Any idea or info on this would be greatful, I would hate to get a ticket for no tail light. I have tried all I could do so now I am looking into what others think it may be. I would hate to go and have it looked at and fixed for a huge amount on money when I may just be able to fix it myself...
Thank you for your time

By "not working" do you mean that the running light(s) aren't working? If so, when you changed the bulb 5 times did you make sure if the original and/or new bulbs were dual filimant? My only thought without seeing the car is that you put a single filimant bulb in place of a dual filimant. I've never pulled my taillight or changed any bulbs on my Crossfire so I can't confirm whether it's supposed to be dual filimant or not though.
Yes those two circuits should be on different fuses. However if the tail light on the other side is working, then the fuse is not the problem. Are you sure you are using the correct bulb number? My next test would be to see if voltage is present at the socket with a 12v test light. It is possible you have a defective socket at that light. I replace headlight and taillight sockets weekly on our Ford vehicles in our fleet at work due to the sockets melting and causing a bad connection to the bulb.

The book calls for a 21/5w which is a dual filament bulb. NAPA lists it as a LMP 17916. What are you using?
Are your bulb contacts the same as shown here?

Check fuse 7 !!! If it's ok, make SURE you have the right bulb in there.
Beyond that, I would think it's a bad socket - but bad sockets are rare (well, common in boat trailers - rare otherwise).
Some how my hubby and I fixed it lol. We replaced the fuse just in case and switched the bulbs out again and it worked just fine... Thank you all for the help... Maybe my Crossfire was having hormonal issues lol...

That's always the case on every forum. lol
Hey guys, digging up an old thread but i am having the same issue with my right tail light.. the brake light works fine but the tail light is out.. Seems to have started after I replaced both tail lights when the left one was out, maybe i knocked something around? At any rate, I've replaced the bulb again to no avail and then I replaced fuse #7... it did look a little scorched but after replacing it, still no luck..
any suggestions on next steps to try?

Simple check is to switch the bulbs, left to right and right to left, to see if the problem is bulb or socket related.
ive changed out the bulb already with no luck
The majority of problems in the rear lights, other than burnt out bulbs, are caused by using the wrong bulb.
If you have tried it with a bulb that you have SEEN work the problem lies in the socket or beyond.
Checking bulbs 101 dictates that you check the bulb for continuity, and check for power at the socket.
I am not sure how the contacts are in the bulb holder but sometimes the contact does not touch the bulb as it should because it is bent too far back or it has been burnt by sparking because of a bad contact for a while.

The illumination control module is another big issue that others (including myself have had). Are the front right parking lights and right side markers out too? Turn your lights on and hit the dash around the headlight switch with your hand and see if those lights flicker at all.

The right parking light, right tail light, and both right markers are on the same circuit. Same goes for the left side. So if the ICM is bad one whole side will go out except for headlights and brake lights.
I do believe each light has it's own ground wire so i would ensure that all grounds are connected properly. A volt meter across the socket contacts would help a lot.
