Are you talking about the large ones for adjusting the beam hight etc? (the bottom screws go right into them) There are no bumpers that I can remember but they kind of slide into a specific spot. It's hard to explain without seeing it. If you have the tire off and the lining and such removed it is easy to see how things go together from the bottom. If your trying to work through the hole in the plastic it is almost worth it just to remove all the stuff and get a good look. Once you see how it all works you will be able to work through that little hole a lot easier next time. (was for me anyway)

When I changed my right side headlight I removed the grill and it made the change go alot easier. I didn't take the wheel off or anything, but what goes well for one person sometimes doesn't for others.
