New fender strakes

Re: Fender strakes - Today , 10:30 AM
I hope to get them out tomorrow. I unexpectedly had to fly out to colorado for a business workshop and will be back tomorrow am.
Again I do apologize! I am still trying to learn how to balance this new business in with my preexisting responsibilities.
Thanks again for your patience. They are coming very soon!
I recieved this PM today after sending him one asking: Any idea when these might ship?
I am hoping he gets them out soon to us. Can't wait to see them on the XFire...

The only problem I have with the latest update/news is anymore delays and I will not be able to use the PayPal buyers protection if something would happen with this transaction due to the time period this has stretched over. If you where to get sick are hurt and could not do a refund or send the product we would be out product and our money...
(You can report a transaction problem in the Resolution Center within 45 days of this payment.)

It then gives you 20 days to resolve the matter with the seller before you have to either escalate it to a Claim or cancel the Dispute. That 20 days should be more than enough to get them repainted.
(I still have 17 days before my 45 days is up)
I know he has worked hard to get these items finished and done right and I for one am glad he is trying to bring new products to us. But I also must watch out for myself in the long run and have become just a little worried with the time and delays these have taken. I am hoping that these delays are just normal in the process of bring out a new product....
Although in the end I have been burned before and will always be a little worried when handing out cash to someone while not having the product in my hand. I wish this would have been more along the lines of a small deposit and not everything up front.
I am only 14 days from the claim deadline....I am hoping in less then 14 days I will be sporting a new set of these Fender Strakes!!!

Maybe you will not like the quality when you see them and will be covered for that too if you time it right.
Some people hate to give money back when they have it in their hands.
Just sayin'.

I hope better for this group. But I've had my suspicions from the start.
For those of you that did not receive the PM here is what I received earlier today prompting my concern:
Re: Fender strakes - Today , 09:00 AM
I have some bad news for many of you... This morning something pretty crappy happened. As I was carring the box of strakes down the staircase of my apartments, the bottom of the box ripped out.. All but a few fell and will need repainting. Im so sorry. There were only about 2 or 3 sets that were unaffected which I PROMISE will ship monday morning and i will supply you with tracking numbers. As for the damaged items.. Its just paint that was effected. Since I used a semi-rigid urethane they can really take a beating but obviously the paint cannot. I have not checked the damages to match lefts and rights but I am pretty sure one SSB set, the primer set, and MAYBE an alabaster set are good to ship. I have already contacted my painter and am literally about the jump in the car now to take the two hour drive to drop them off to him. He said he would do his best to get them finished for me quickly. I AM SO SORRY GUYS! mine was ruined too just so you know I am not being careless. As far as who receives the undamaged sets.. It will go by whos payment was received first.. I have not checked on that yet but will do so this evening when I get back from the painters and notify you directly. Getting this batch completed is my number 1 priority right now. Please continue to bare with me on this. I know how bad you guys want these! I will keep you as up to date as possible!
Thanks and apologies,
Jordon

Let this be a lesson for anyone trying to bring out a new crossfire product. It's best if you just use your own money for R&D, and then when you have a product that is finished, fitted and ready to ship, it's best to ONLY accept cash payments.
Paypal creates all sorts of nightmares for potential sellers who don't have their products ready to ship at the time they advertise them.
Best to have the product finished, tested and fitted, and then to remove potential Paypal headaches from the equation, sell them for cash only.
If you are thinking of filing a paypal dispute, you are first obligated to contact the seller and ASK for a refund. Only after you are refused a refund, should you then file a dispute.

Unit-packing each of these would have prevented this, no? At the very least, bubble-wrap.

I totally agree with offshoreMM's post, when you buy something you should know what you are buying.
When you are selling you should be willing to put your money where your mouth is and not use your customers money to fund your business enterprise.
I quess I look at it a little different and I have been burned....but, when a young guy has an idea, and the talent, but not the start-up money, and you decide to front the money...that is RISK my friends, just like any other investment. If you don't have the money to lose, then don't invest. I don't think trashing this kid is going to get you your product any sooner. If he fails, then trash him, but if he is struggling to make the buy work, then be patient. With all the ideas he has thrown out there, and all the different work ups, just maybe he needs to focus on one product at a time...but, I see everyone jumping on board saying oh I like that mod, and I this mod, and his mistake is, trying to please everyone rather than staying focused on delivering the first one...that is the RISK you take....I have made the mistake, and taken the risk, and I knew it was a risk and I might lose my money. Mine is a little different, it that their idea was stolen....but it was still a risk...so before the ship sinks....and I certainly don't want it too, cause I like some of his ideas, I would see if the 3 mentioned actually get shipped...or maybe he took on something that is bigger than him to make happen...bottom line...now compare that to King Penn and their design of the lighted door sills, they won't put that product out there until it is ready. Difference there is they have the R&D money, as 180 concluded...big difference, and even then, people are trashing King Penn because the product isn't available yet...we don't have many vendors doing things for our cars....let's not lose potential one's by being impatient...all you car nuts know it takes a lot of time working with this type of material and getting it right...because we are so particular about our cars...long post I know...just hate to see everyone so upset, before the failure actually happens. I know the side skirts thing left people untrusting, but many of us knew up front it was a risk...but, still a little different than what is happening here....hyprlth20....#1 my friend, is you HAVE to communicate with your "investors" as they are not just customers...if you are to be successful...if you are having problems, tell them, if you can't deliver, and the project is failing, tell them...because everyone is watching...good luck everyone, I will shut up now....
+1 Doc, and very well put. How quickly love changes to hate and optimism changes to pessimism on this site. I too like many of his ideas, and purposely decided to wait until the first production run was delivered and got user feedback on them prior to me committing to purchase. Those that got in on the initial round should have the tolerance for the risks that an initial production can have. If Hyper decides to continue with this endeavor, the process will become much smoother. He is going through learning curves right now, and we should at least give him the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise. Good luck getting this resolved quickly Hyper, and like Doc said..... Good, bad, or otherwise........ constant (honest) communication is the key to success.

Maybe I will add some of your posts from that thread.
As I recall, FBI, payback, trips to California.
What's up dementia setting in.
well, 180, maybe it's you that should re-read those threads...Johnny, and Rudy was who my money went to...they were taken advantage of by Root...they made a mistake trusting him, but he didn't tell them he was Dan Root, he pretended to be someone else...he was a crook, not Johnny and Rudy...whom I would have had to go after as they recieved the monies...my problem was with Root...as I stated...I am not mad at Johnny or Rudy, and in fact treat them as friends. Had they not been able to deliver, I would have understood and taken the loss. But not from a con artist like Root...he is a crook, period...this isn't even close to being the same thing with this kid....maybe you need get your **** straight before you take a poke at me...
