Just be prepared for road chips to it after about a month or two of driving. I went through 3 polyurethane front lips on my Cobalt SS in three years. One of the reasons why I had to sell it. Keeping that front lip clean was killing me. But it also cost $200 a front lip, so I didnt like going through them. This price isn't as big of a deal if it gets chipped up

Hey Mike you are in the cleaning supplies what do you suggest to get the spoiler ready to install so the tape will stick

Just looking to C-M-A and not have to back up for a redo.. and in what I'm reading, as odd as it may seem, a rough sand is required if you want it to stick. Just a note for those that have already purchased these, with the lip being "pulled" around the peak on our noses.. I would advise painting on the car. Painting it "flat" and then flexing it around is most likely going to crack any finish applied. Ran across this on a Honda forum.. this was brought in for rear damage repair and he had them install his spoiler. It didn't quite fit so this was there "fix".. He wasn't real happy..

Give both pieces that the tape will be applied to a good wipe down with isopropyl alcohol. That will remove any oils, grease, wax etc. You could do the same with some 3M wax and grease remover or any body shop prep solvent. The 3M double sided automotive tape is pretty solid stuff and will last for many years with just a basic prep of the surface.

You've got carbon fiber wrap on your windshield surround, don't you? CF might be a somewhat tricky install on this piece given some of the tighter contours of it. I can't promise you anything but let me look into the possibility of getting some um, scrap material for you. That's a long and narrow piece..... any idea on the actual dimensions?

Appreciate the offer! But i'm silver trimmed, and you should see me wrap Christmas presents.. LOL. Just not looking forward to all the prep work involved here from what I'm reading.

If the 3m tape will not work, wrapping will not adhere either.

You are going to need to get a hold of body shop level chemicals that are not always readily available 'over the counter' per say. Talk to a local body shop and they can either get you squared away with some chemical stripper like Ackersol (SP) or at least clean up the part for minimal cost...

I would ship you some, but this stuff is horribly combustible.

3M prepsolve 70.. mostly sold for 50 bucks by the gallon.. was told quarts are available at finer parts stores.

Was your rubbing alcohol 90%
Was looking at my dollar general label.. 50%..another bottle I have is 70%.. think I read at least 80% was required.

Think I'll play around with some stuff this evening.. Had a sale on luca oil gas treatment at my autozone a couple months back.. guy tossed in a bike tent type cover and some kind of hd cleaner .. it did a pretty fair job on the inside of my wheels..maybe test a little chemtool on the inside areas and look and see if I have some lacquer thinner still around..just putting on a rag and rubbing a small area to test for adhesion.

If the part is coated with such a resistant release agent then not only will the 3M tape not adhere, nor the wrap, you'd have a hell of a time painting it as well!! I didn't realize it had such a coating but figured I'd thrown in that "body shop prep solvent" just in case. Besides, I'm the guy who polishes the paint after it's applied - I don't prep surfaces for paint, nor do I spray the paint.

Apply to cloth..when "shiney" it's clean. Used it inside the lower lip flange and that small square of tape is there to stay now.

Added bonus.. add the rest to gas tank!

EDIT:

Also just for grins did a test with 70% alchohol..it didn't "fall" off.. but didn't actually adhere to it either. Don't know about 90% but I'm good to go with my chemtool.

So are you trying to say your the "buffer" between painter and customer?

Next "let's see adventure.".. clean section of spoiler with chemtool and apply automotive plastic primer.. Could be a short cut.. Just maybe the Gods are with me and it will act like an etching agent too. Never know till you try I figure!

if this works how are you dealing with contact area it will be so small because the angles you will need to build some thing up so you would have a good contact between bumper an spoiler

When I did the test mount up on Sunday I was sooo tempted to run down the highway to pick up my son from his moms (without any tape), but thought don't rush into this. I don't know where you are setting yours "exactly" but the small ridge where the tape lays in is "hooking" over the point on my nose. With the bracket underneath and tape holding the top edge I am very confident in it's stability. Right now I'm toying with the idea of a 1/8" wide at the back and saw blade width (1/16) "v" notch in the middle on the turned back flange on the bottom to let it lay in to eleminate that small gap that occurs in my pictures instead of using the tape to "pull" it in. The bracket on bottom would anchor both sides where notched.
Like I've stated.. this is not "made" for our cars but with very little modding it's going to work.
