Exclamation Lights start flashing for no reason.

My lights will just start flashing when my car is off. Its the lights that flash when you lock the car. If I try to unlock the car with my key fob the alarm goes off! HELP

Check the rear below the foam inserts under the tire repair kit/compressor. Sounds like you have water in the locking/pump module. If it is, it'll be at lease a new/used module and some drainage added to the bay area afterwards. The foam inserts come out only after the side panels and such are taken out. I hope its not whats wrong but from the description, it sounds like it. Good luck!

My roadster did this. My problem was a dying battery. These cars do really funky things when the battery is getting to the end of its life. My SRT alarm was going off like crazy & wouldn't shut off for anything and that required new remote batteries. That is the easiest place to start.

Well I had my battery tested and it tested perfect. So, not sure what to do next.

Are you throwing any codes? FYI, mine tested perfect too. It wasn't bad just reaching the end of its life. I would check the batteries in the fob next.

Just out of curiosity what would the key fob battery have to do with the lights coming on and flashing when it is no where near the car? And thanks for your input.

Put simply, none.
Look for water in the trunk well under the foam as said before. You have to discount this first as a problem, it is simple to do.

It was sending rolling signals to the car based on a bad battery is the best I can figure out. All I know is that my SRT was doing the same thing where the lights would flash as if I had just locked it without me doing anything and more often than not the alarm would go off. My car would be outside and I (with keys) was in my office, house, bank, grocery store, etc. I couldn't shut the alarm off no matter what I did. The remote was totally ineffective but I could start and drive the car. Several times I was driving down the street with the alarm going off looking like I just stole my own car. The advice that I was given was to change out the batteries in both remotes. I did that and no more problems in 8 months. I suppose that there could have been water in the trunk that magically dried up on the exact day that I replaced the batteries. The other thing is that it is about the easiest fix there is for a problem. Try whatever you think will work best with your problem. I am just letting you know what fixed mine when I had what sounds like the exact same thing going on. I did also remove the battery cables and then reattach them.

I would hazard a guess that if you were a good distance away from the car then the remote would not be sending signals to the car as it would be out of range. If the batteries were weak then the range would have been decreased even more for them to work.
The battery disconnection could have reset the system and solved the problems.

Well thanks to all who replied, I did take the positive cable off of the battery but it happened again after that so my next option will be to go with Kims suggestion and change the key fob batteries.

I had to remove the battery cables 3 different times - that's why I threw that in as an after thought. It might have been what did it but the fix appeared to be the fob batteries. I know it doesn't make sense but it worked. Did you check the trunk for water while you were at it? It wasn't my problem but it would be another quick and easy check to do. Is is giving any kind of error codes at all?

Question Re: Lights start flashing for no reason.

Well I replaced the fob batteries, I also went to the local place and asked if they would put it on the computer but they wouldnt b/c the check engine light wasn't on. So with new batteries in the key fob I gave it a try last night and it continued to do the same thing. So today I crawled inside my trunk and tried to get the foam off of the floor. With alot of cursing all I was able to do was mess things up in there. Even though I loosened the carpet I was still unsuccessful in lifting the foam inserts. So I say to myself, it's almost summer and if there is water under there somewhere it will eventully dry up. I figure if I have to disconnect the battery every freaking day until it drys up....then so be it. I anyone else has any idea what it could be Im open to suggestions. Could it possibly be a fuse somewhere? Thanks!!

Your grasping at straws, pull the foam sections (involving removal of the trim, I think the clips pop out after pulling up the little pins in them) and check for water in the compartment/modules.

Have you ever tried to pull those up? I had all the pins out and pulled the carpet back but w/o pulling the plastic off and risk causing a bigger problem I decided to put all the pins back in once I couldnt pull up the freaking foam by pulling back the carpet. I have read 100 posts and they all say different things, none of them are conclusive. So I wait......waiting for the one person with the answer. One thing Im not sure of is the age of my battery but I had it tested and they said it was okie dokie

OK yeah, there is also some of those hidden plastic clips that are round, like pins that snap into holes. Those are the ones that are the worst. You will have to talk to someone who actually has taken out those rear trim panels so keep this post active for the folks that have had to take out those trim panels. I hope it isn't those modules (there are two one is the locking pump module I cannot remember what the other one is). Good luck!

Thumbs up Re: Lights start flashing for no reason.

OK Could it possibly have been the key fob? Wow! I do believe it was! Yes, I did change the batteries, but what I didn't do was to resync the thing after I put the batteries in it. I was reading the manual and it said that if the batteries were out more than 2 minutes (which they were) then you need to resync the key fob by pointing the fob at the car press the lock unlock button 2 times within 30 seconds and then start the car. Go figure the lights haven't flashed nor has it shirpped all day, and I hate to be negative but theres always tomorrow. I will keep you posted.

no because I pulled the fuse. I just have to put up without my auto locks and the fact that my trunk will not lock, but no more flashing and horn honking.
