I have seen several members completely remove this decal and not replace it. Keep it waxed and it isn't a problem as far as I know.

I removed mine in 2007 and think it looks better than with the strip. I removed easily with a hair dryer (heat). I just wax it when I wax the car and you can't tell it was ever there.

Frank, is it possible the added 12 years might make it much harder to remove just using a hair dryer? Just curious myself...

Apparently not. Several owners have "de-stripped" their cars in the past two or three years. it's been talked about on the Roadster Facebook page.

Thanks Mark, glad to know I can still learn things about these cars and old glue.

With the original part discontinued maybe this would be an acceptable alternative. It's exterior grade so I think it would be fade resistant, and it comes in different widths. It does not appear to be glossy. I left the URL in the screen capture so anyone interested could find it easily. I expect there are other sellers of similar products.

Try a local automotive detailing company that specializes in vinyl wraps, decals and stripes.

They should be able to reproduce a reasonable facsimile Cut it on their dedicated machine and apply it for a pretty reasonable price. I’ll bet they can make it look OEM

What I can’t believe is that we keep talking about the price of parts (eBay or Mopar) that are no longer manufactured, and are getting harder to find

$130 is a small price for an item in really short supply and it’s still available. It would cost 1 hour labour for any shop to assess an issue with your car.

1 hour labour st any shop to assess any issue is about $100 and the part are about the same price. That’s a deal, you know what’s wrong, you can correct it on your own and spend under $150. I call that the deal of the day.

thats less than a movie and a night out

these cars are aging out so we’re going to have to either shell out the cash to keep them running.
or scrap them

Everything is expensive but it’s cheaper to repair than it is to purchase a new replacement

Parts of cars sitting on shelves for years go up in price not down generally, they have been taking up room and it’s time to pay for itself.
