Can anyone recommend a brighter low beam headlight bulb for our Crossfires. Is there an LED can bus bulb we can use? The older the headlights get the dimmer the low beam driving lights seem to get.

 

I think these are pretty bright for a plug and play Bulb
They cast a whiter light than conventional bulbs
I have them in my Roadster
H7 bulbs

 

Needswings sells the PIAA bulbs and they work really well. I have used them for years, white light. I think it is 5,000 k. No need for LEDs.
Twisting the long stem at the rear of the headlight housing counter clockwise will raise the beam for both low and high beams.

 

There is always HIDs, I had them and they certainly are much brighter.
They have been discussed many times on here before but not lately.

Don't bother with LED in an H7 reflector. You will get too much scattered light and it cannot be focussed down the road. This is due to the fact you cannot manufacture an LED with the light emitting down the centerline of the bulb like the H7. You are going to find several people telling you LED's are fine KDW doesn't know what he is talking about but anyone who actually looks at the engineering type drawing for an H7 and an LED will see light being emitted on one side of a silicon substrate cannot equate the H7. Additionally even if the lumens of the LED is 3 times the H7 it will do you no good bouncing all of that light around the inside of the H7 reflector.

Go HID. HID bulbs emit light down the centerline just like the original H7 therefor you are matching the reflector to get light into the projector to get the light down the road.

Has any body put in the 100watt H7’s will the wiring handle the load?

 

SparkieSRT6 used 100 watt bulbs and he found they caused no problems. I have some but have not tried them.
They are illegal, 70 watt being the max allowed but who can tell these day's
I tried those so called brighter bulbs, against a white wall and compared the old with the new, I could see little if any difference, I got distracted and forgot to put a matched pair in. I have driven them like that for years now.

 

No, but I did put in Morimoto 2-Stroke H7 LED's in both low and high. Incredibly bright.

So I put in the 100 watt bulb on the left high beam, used the Hella Optilux H7, will try that for a while and see how the wiring holds up. Since the high beams are used off and on it should not be as demanding as in the low beam light continuous use.
i got some Morimoto HIDs but you need to do a lot of wiring and I have held off on using them, although using them in the low beam should be OK, but some say HIDs do not like being cycled a lot.

 

I changed out OEM bulbs and installed HID bulbs and ballasts lo/hi beam and driving lights world of difference driving at night here in NJ

Some may still need a small canbus decoder adapter to prevent flickering or dash warning lights. Stick to 6000K or below for the best visibility. The dimming you are experiencing is normal for aging halogens and an LED swap will make a noticeable difference.
