There may be a valid reason why Julian has not tended to .org and it's issues. If that is the case it is a serious situation, I'd think. In the past he has been responsive to my emails/requests often within 1-2 days. I'm not being a "Polly Anna" so much as pointing out that we all have had things happen in our lives that were not for public consumption and prevented us from meeting our normal obligations. The fact that you are able to post your point of view about the lack of function on .org means it is still providing the basic service of a forum. I would like to have things return to the old norm, but it might not.
It's the vast amount of knowledge about the Crossfire car contained on the site is irreplaceable. I'd suspect Julian is in agreement, if he wasn't it would be way easier to just pull the plug and be done with it. I can't think he chooses to have people ticked off and get endless emails about the problems. My two cents-

Hello my name is Nick and I'm an IT guy. I technically have the knowledge to help design another forum. Being that I'm on my 3rd crossfire, owning both the limited and SRT I would be more than willing to throw my expertise towards building another top notch Crossfire forum. I do agree that it is important to include the General/off topic sections of the forum, it is where some of us can go to banter on about other things, but still be close to the things we love (X-fires). I'm not saying we can be the next f-chat or facebook, but it shouldn't be to difficult to rebuild what has been established here over the past 7 years.

All, please take a deep breath, and relax. I doubt this site will disappear. As long as it's giving us the basic functionality we should be fine. Don't get me wrong. I'm very frustrated with the lack of Julian responding to our requests. It makes our jobs (mods and admins) harder, but I'm sure he will eventually fix it.

In the meantime, rest assure that we at CICCI are doing everything we can to not lose any of the critical information we have here should this site one day disappear.

Lets not get divided. We all have one thing in common; Our cars.

We've been talking about this issue so long, I am turning blue in the face....

BTW this is my new avatar if the picture issues ever gets fixed..

Being the new guy on the block, (obveously before new guys weren't allowed) I feel the site has so much to offer that it would be a shame to start over. Used to belong to a model airplane group that had problems so we started a new group and neither group survived. I'd really hate to see that happen here. You guys that have put so much time and effort into this site are to be complemented, not complained about. There aren't that many of us XF owners, we need to stay together, without fighting like kids. Hope being able to get new members gets fixed soon, we need them.

I'm hoping he will do so again. It should also be noted that in these past attempts the ring leaders were taken out and shot. Be careful.
It's like staying a bad relationship that is going no where, because we are all afraid to start over. Tip toeing and keeping quiet is not something we should live in constant fear of. Every last one of us knows the day the screen goes black cci is where we head untill it gets figured out. It's kind of the now or never saga. Keep putting the value of knowledge into a site that could be gone tomorrow or start putting that value into a site that is goig nowhere. Answer seems clear as day to me

I may not be as active as some of the guys here, but have been around for a few days, check the top right hand corner. I personally have been frequenting this site less and less over time not because of pictures and avatars, but because some really awesome people no longer frequent this site. Maxwell, HDDP, and unfortunately Sidez can no longer do so. While I haven't met these people personally, they have contributed greatly. And not quantitatively (I've noticed people padding their post count in the politics forum) but Qualitatively. As in knowledge about the car, the Crossfire, which the last time I checked is the biggest part of the web address in question. Now there are still a few people here that are very knowledgeable and if you start a new domain, I'll bet they'll share there as well. And if not, then come here, use the search function and then post the info in the other domain as if it were you own. That's the cool thing about intellectual property.... no one knows what's in your head. Is this honest... No! Will it get the job done... Yes! Plus the search function there would be rather useful because all the crap on here will be "purged" just by going to another domain.

Just my 2 cents which I only have one of...

Justin

I think it would be nice to lose the information. I see it a bunch of times where a newbe will come on and start a thread and just get bombarded by people saying USE THE SEARCH. If you dont really know how to use the seach button then you get pages and pages of pointless information. There is so much information on here that there is nothing new to talk about.

I saved some of my better posts (How To stuff) just in case.

Can't hurt for the rest of you to go back and see if there are important posts that you want to save. Just in case.

Oh boy are you in trouble!
Probably a good idea to un-post the personal info.

Would you please explain how one would acquire information on a site with whois? Maybe with an example.

Without divulging personal information of course!

Certainly,
Go to Whois.com - Domain Names & Identity for Everyone
put in the domain name Crossfireforum
choose the extention .org
Click Search now
Crossfireforum.org will pop up below the search box. Choose the whois link that is next to it.
It'll ask you to put in the source code it provides
tadaa
