Paradise on Fire!!

Saw this one start from my back yard early this morning when I was out with the dogs.

There was still a little dew on the grass (how we measure the seasons here) and I felt a very slight, warm breeze on my back as I was looking out at the Channel Islands and thought about that line from the Steely Dan song "Babalon Sisters"

"Here come those Santa Ana winds again...."

Looked up at the mountains and the Conejo Grade that goes over the Santa Monica mountains and saw what looked like a small car fire on the right of the freeway and thought - they better get on fire that fast... In less then 20 minutes the winds were blowing at 25 mph...

Tis the season.....

An incredibly fast, hot fire that burned a lot of old, thick brushland...

It amazingly skirted all the homes (thanks in part to our brave fireman) and now seems to be burning itself out towards the ocean
