Gopro
Got the Hero 3 black edition for Christmas..
Went ahead and ordered a 32 gigabyte card for it. Just wondering should I have opted for the 64 gig? Figured you guys that have run them .. especially for the Dragon.. could give me a good idea how far that will go..

My cards are 16 gig, I carry 3. The GoPRo Hero II munches a battery in about the time it fills a 16 G card, so it all works out good.
I pull the battery and put it on a charger and change cards at the same time. At the end of a long day, I'll have gone thru all 3 cards (most of the way thru the third one) and three batteries. I transfer files to the computer in the evenign and erase the cards.
I GUESS you could do it with one big card, but my way, I know what run each card is, etc.
I can only assume you will have higher-def modes than I have that will fill a card faster. Let me know how the '3 works, my 2 is ready to be retired.

Also any heads ups on what not to do are welcome.. even at Christmas prices these weren't give away prices.. so the last thing I want is to have to stop and go fetch what's left of it..
I put a mount on my front bumper real close to the vertical split between the lower grill pieces. Worked great for Mt. Rainier runs. I also have one to the left of my rear license plate for backward facing video.
I bought a 32GB card and it lasts longer than the battery did. Need to pick up another battery for longer video time.
I LOVE the control app so you dont have to record everything from start to stop.
Need to find the time to edit and combine clips...

I've seen you tether it to your side window at the dragon. All I could think about was that I would rather it fall away from the car than bounce around on the side of it. maybe a long enough tether and you can pretend to be Napoleon Dynamite.
Camera was just a starting price huh.. LOL. I'm guessing you used the stick pad mounts? I'm not really wanting to put something on the car that is more or less permanent .. I did go ahead and download the editing program they offer, and have the phone app already setup. Just looks like it's back to school time with this little puppy..
You can get suction cup mounts, which I would like to have for the middle of the windshield eventually, but I kinda worry about them sticking long term.
And yes, the initial purchase is just the beginning...
Suction mount from GoPro is beter than most "cellphone" mounts. I've had mine on the car in different places trying to get good angles and engine sounds. Beware of mounting to low on the front bumper, got a lens full of gravel kicked up by a truck, had to replace lens in the bullet proof case...

Marks tethering safety rope sounds like a good idea too, but I'm thinking maybe a secondary suction cup on a short leash.
Would probably give you time to slow down and stop before beating your car and camera to death..
You know, now that I think about it -
I absent-mindedly turned my wipers on once at 80mph and knocked the GoPro off - it went flying off the right side of the car on GA400 and went bouncing in 6 to 12 inch grass. I went back and got it - it has been fine ever since. This was over a year ago.

Mark was like, "hmm a lever. I haven't used this in a while. Let's twist it, Oh shoot!"
