Default Goodbye (Kind of...)

Well guys,

The x-fire went today......
I'm genuinely gutted about it, as I loved that car.

However, the fuel costs were just too much in the end. It was costing me £160 ($210) per month in fuel, bearing in mind I don't actually live that far away from work.
Also, some of the spares over here are becoming increasingly difficult to find and expensive. So, a minor fender bender could be a real issue for example.

So, she's gone and now I'm captain sensible with a civic S type.

Thanks for all the help you guys have given me over the past year or so - truly appreciated.
I will be keeping an eye on the forum, as I'll always retain a soft spot for these wonderful & increasingly rare cars.

I've got a feeling though, that I'll end up with another at some point. Perhaps when I'm a bit nearer to retirement and the running costs are not so important.

What is the mileage like with the new car? If I drive my roadster reasonably, I can get 25 or more mpg, if I drive it gently, I get 29-30 mpg - which is pretty good and exceeds my compact pickup truck (about 19 mpg) and is competitive with most of the newer cars on the road that deliver 25-35 mpg.

I am obviously pretty fond of Crossfires but it is painfull to pay the extra 40 to 50 cents a gallon here for premium fuel. Our daily driver gets a little better mileage than the Crossies but the difference is the cost.

Unfortunately, fuel costs in the UK are more than twice what they are in the US.

The new car does around 50mpg, so a lot better.
Also, it's half the cost to tax and insure.

And as above, fuel is very expensive here.
