Other than your U.S. borders, all your borders are 29deg. sea water. Doesn't your first lady have the Covid-19? Addressing the thread title; Other than hearing my wife complain about the long lines of panic buyers when she went to do our normal shop, it hasn't affected me at all. Oh, wait a second; Gov. Newsom(CA.) here just commanded us seniors to stay home tomorrow. For how long? As though I'm going to listen to his liberal a$$.

Tomorrow I'm shopping for what I lack to stay indoors until the end of March. It appears a total lockdown is close to reality. Most branches of the local government are now closed. 3 cruise ships that terminate trips in San Juan have been turned away. All incoming passengers at the airport are checked for a fever and as of Wednesday all will be tested for the Wuhan virus. Our condominium has banned all rentals and visitors from entry. Only the mailman, UPS, medical personal are allowed to enter. Food deliveries have to be picked up at the guard house. It's real now and coming to your town. Get prepared now.

In Canada at least we are dealing with the facts and are actually being polite about it. I guess your BS is none of our business, but we still care about our neighbors here, and you guys are our neighbors. In a month, or a year I will still feel the same about my country and my neighbors whom I love, and respect.

I’m not sure why you want to stir this up. There are maybe like 100 Canadian forum members and a few thousand US members. Take the Canadian road, the high road. It’s legal here now. Maybe spark one up and relax.

This virus is crossing open and closed borders the Jeanie is out of the bottle.

We’ll all get through this together.

The boat gets to the dock when we all row in the same direction.

Johnny, you have lots of time to get all of us onto your ignore list.

pace yourself.

MY apologies to to everyone, including my fellow Canadians. Didn't realize I was stirring anything, didn't intend to. No personal or politics of any kind intended. Can hardly wait for the weather to break and get baseball back on TV.

We're in total "hide in your room" mode now. The police have cleared the beaches. Hotel guests can't leave the premises. All gatherings are "illegal". Grocery stores and pharmacy's are open. Hospitals have set up canopy's outside to keep potential Wuhan virus patients from infecting the rest, a prescreening before you can enter. Some restaurants are open for take out or delivery. No eat in establishments that I know of. Get ready ahead of the news. I'm watching the increase in infections in the US and it mirrors how it spread in China and Italy. I say over react now and kick or kiss yourself later. The sooner the lockdown the sooner it'll end.

Its a flu and most everyone will have it eventually, it will die out when everyone has had it or the flu shot is available in 18 months. Society can not just sit out 8 weeks or more. TENS of thousands die in the us yearly from the regular flu, we need to get a grip. Its natures way of clearing out the low hanging fruit, and a typical event as these things go. Its not the bird flu which is about 50 % effective. This too will pass and overreaction is the biggest threat to us. I feel bad for all the lower income workers that have no options or support mechanisms. Woody at 73 YO.

I think you have missed the point of the current restrictions which are to avoid an unmanageable spike in infections which would overwhelm the system. A lower volume of cases at any given time over a longer time period will make the virus more manageable.
You seem to be advocating getting the virus and spreading it around and letting the poorer and older low hanging fruit as you call them die.
Thanks you for your sympathy from one of the low hanging fruit.

I was stating the fact that this is nature doing its thing and that there are consequences. The weaker one will be taken sooner and there is no sense getting over wrought about it. The binge buying is putting many more at risk and the low wage earners are going to be crushed with the shutdowns. Yes there will be many taken and thats a fact. Cant sweat it but instead be sensible in your daily actions. We as a planet are over populated which will be causing many MORE problems in the near future, like the market this is a form of correction. Life is tough. OBTW been to the other side briefly and not afraid to go back. Woody

If you dont want to be exposed there are clear ways to avoid this flu, its not omnipotent. I do not plan to be a shut in, carry a 70% isopropyl alcohol sprayer, masks and have ordered hand portable UVc lamps and plan on selling my crossfire in the distant future, lets see how that plays out.

This is the very informative UP TO DATE John Hopkins COVID-19 data page. You can click on any country to the left and see # of reported cases, deaths, and recoveries. Italy has a death rate of 13%, EXTREMELY high compared to most countries. To put that in perspective the "normal" annual flu has a death rate of 0.1%, or 1 in 1,000. In Italy 130 in 1,000 die from COVID-19. In Iran it's 18%, nearly 1 in 5!

As to how it's affected me: Ordered via Amazon Prime yesterday. Before placing my order the item stated delivery 2 days hence, as always. Once I actually placed the order it soon became clear that it will take 4 days to deliver the item. As it's the FIRST TIME EVER Amazon Prime has let me down I dare say A LOT of people must be sitting at home ordering things instead of fetching them in person.
