Default Leather Seat Install

Thinking about purchasing leather seats for the base coupe as I know it has been done before. Somebody has mentioned the harness is there, and just a $25 control module is needed. Somebody else mentioned needing to make a custom harness.

What actually needs to be done to install these and make the power seats work? Does anyone have the part number for the control module? Can the buttons for the heated seats be purchased separately and plugged into the dash where the blanks are now?

Thanks everyone!

I did a search and could not come up with the part #...So I went and checked my notes...The Chrysler part # is 5104857AA and the Mercedes # is A0025422219.Go to Your Chrysler dealer, it will be about $10 cheaper. I thru in the Merc # for the Salvage yard Hunters.

The wiring is there for the power adjusters but not the heat.
The heated seat switches are part of what's called the Heated Seat Module. and yes can replace to blanks that are there now but the wiring is not there for them. You will have to wire that yourself.

Gary.

One more quick question. Is the Heat Seat Module different than the relay part number you provided? (To obtain the heated seat switches?) I see the part number provided is $20 on Chrysler Parts Direct... I tried looking for the heated seat module and all I came up with was this Heated Seat Switch for $221.

Do I need this or is it something different?

Thanks,
Jason

The part # I gave is for the Power Seat Relay.
Yes the Heated Seat Module is a different piece and lists for about $284.
For Just power seats all you need is the power seat Relay.
If you want Heat also then you will need both.

I got my H.S.M. off of Ebay along with the center console face plate for about $30.

Help Please!!!

I got the lower dash off and I don't see any place to put the relay. Should it be obvious? I see a plastic mounting bracket to the left of the steering wheel that has wires coming in the front and out the back, but no place for the relay.

Also, in feeling under the seat, there is only one small thin wire for the seatbelt sensor. Was your power seat wire just sitting down there or was it under the carpet?

And one last thing... the fuses under the hood for the power seats were not there, which i believe one post said they were.

Could it be possible they removed the wiring for the power seats in the '06 base model?

Thanks,
Jason

I took the seat out and looked. The power seat harness does not exist. The harness that is there has only two thin wires in it, and the harness is completely different than the connector on the '05 leather seats I bought.

Now I need to determine if it is feasible to run power to the seats some other way or sell the '05 leather seats for cheap.

Looking at the bottom of the '05 seats, there are a few connectors on the seat harness I am trying to determine what they are.

On the driver side there are two back plugs with 2 pins each. I have metered these to tell they are connected to the seat switches.

There is one red plug with two pins. This measures about 30 ohms across the pins, but from what I could tell was not attached to the seat switches?

There is one black plus with 4 pins in it. Two of them are continuous across the plug, and the other two are as well.

I need to know which wires are for the heated seats, which ones are for the seat belt switch, and also which ones (if there are any) are for occupant detection?

Any help would be appreciated.

Just make sure you plug in the cables correctly and disconnect the battery before you do anything. I read on another post that it caused the Air Bag Light to go on and will not shut off unless you have a DRB-III scan tool to reset the system. It's a dealership only tool. They will charge you $45 to do it. Otherwise you can shell out $3,000 to get the tool and do it yourself and re-enable the air bag system.

xf6412 - The install did not go well. I have a late model base '06 coupe and the wiring harness is not there as others were lucky enough to have. I also looked under the dash for the place to put the relay mentioned above, and the place did not exist. (Probably because the harness isn't in the car).

In fact, the connectors on the bottom of the '06 seat are completely different than the connectors on the bottom of the '05.

In the near future, I will be looking for a way to run power to the leather seats, and connect the occupant sensor/seat belt sensor on the '05 leather seat to the existing but different harness already in the car.

Any help on which wires are what on the early model power seats would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jason

hey jspies , sorry to abandoned this posting .But i have also bought the 05 leather seats and have found that my 06 base DOES not have any of the wiring or mounting locations after lot's of thought though , i cant see how chrysler would change the complete harness in the car for somthing so simple so it should be interesting to see if an 05 power seat harness assembly would be interchangable , if this is in fact a new way of doing this we would only need to find the 05 power seat section of the harness . ALSO if any one has been able to do this please GET IN TOUCH its a pain to have those nice seats just sitting around NOT in the car ! ALSO if any one has a 2005 interior wiring harness for sale please contact me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also want to do a seat swap. I have an '06 base roadster (black cloth seats). I see the leather seats from '04/'05 on ebay and I was interested in putting them in. Are you saying that the mechanical mounts are not identical? My thought was that I'd just bring a 12V feed into the seats to get the power motors to work, and possibly ignore the heater. But I'd have thought that the mechanical and seat belts would not be different. Am I wrong?

Thanks.

Has anyone looked in to having the cloth seats re-covered with leather (like Katzkins) and not worrying about hooking up the electrics? I also have an 06 base convertible with the black cloth. The seats are comfortable enough but are pretty plain looking.

The R170 SLK manual seats are identical to the Crossfire cloth seats, except they are upholstered with leather.

Typically around $350 a pair for these seats if you look around.
