Will do. My digital cam got left outside and rained on, so I am looking for a new one. I have about 15 things I want to photograph, and the Crossfire Project is one of them. I will be sure to upload some photos as soon as I can.

Thats too much for me; after that $500 you still have to purchase the head unit and pay for instillation.

Now your talking like $2K...

if it looks just like the alpine console im in for anything under 800 dollars. but i would like it to have the same contour that the crossfire console currently has and i want it to look like it is factory. i already have the headunit and can do the installation myself so that would be all it costs

I'll keep ya'll posted. As far as the price, I am saving around $400 doing it myself. Gator paid $900 to have his done. It was beautiful work, but I don't have $900 extra, so I am doing it myself.

just a little update from me.. I have been keeping track of the double-din issue on the forum...and, I will be having an installer go through my dash and install a double-din much like the alpine picture that was on this thread here in knoxville. I mentioned to him about having 3-4 done at the same time, or afterwards just like this one and he said it would not be a problem..

aprox cost $300 or so but maybe less if I can get a few people truly intrested.

Now, is there anyone in the Knoxville/East Tenn./Western N.C. area that would truly want this done.. if so.. please PM me and we can get some time setup for the work to be done.

He (the installer) has said that he likes the work that was done on the alpine but says that he wants something to look much more flush and factory than the alpine job, or the other job with the buttons mounted on the armrest area.

I have seen alot of his work from the past and I am pretty impressed with the work done previously with some of my other cars I have had that he has worked on...

So, again.. let me know if your in the area and want this done (send PM), we can set up a time to have it done along with mine (which is next tuesday..day after memorial day) He will give us a discount on the equipment and the work as well...

$300??? Paint included? I would like to see one finished first, but I'll have him do 10 for that price. I'll ship him the consoles, he can cut/glass/fill/sand/paint and ship them back.

With the cost of materials and paint/clear, and the huge amounts of time involved on this, if one can be done correctly for $300, you need to pounce on it NOW, before the installer changes his mind. The cost of paint/clear/reducer/catalyst/etc etc is over $110, and then the resin and matting, plastic filler/sandpaper/tape...the installer will have a profit of around $100 for about 20 hours of labor. If he can do it for that price, I am going to send him as many consoles as I can afford to buy and then re-sell them. This is an INCREDIBLE deal, if they turn out correctly.

sent a pm to RCompart I wouldn't mind doing this myself as far as making them to sell,I don't think it is really possible for the at home do it yourself'er, I just dont see it possible to have that ready to install, first you have to mount the double din player then make a wood surrond then fiber it then back mask then move everything and fiber that, there is no way it can be done for $300 not possible trust me on this one supplies alone will cost more. If he can do it for $300 I will send my console and buy 50 more for him to do it as well. last I got quoted was $1500 for that job, custom fiberglass is $80 and hour not including material

I am highly skeptical of anyone who claims a finished price of less than $600 just for the custom work.

If they can copy the Alpine console to a T I mean the curvature and the ability to follow the contour down at the bottom including the cutout I'm in!

I'm telling you guys...it's a LOT of work to get it right. Anyone willing to do this for less than $500 must REALLY enjoy getting sticky and dusty.

Well I can tell you right now that it will not be tilted toward the driver as mounting the radio at an angle will be really difficult, and the fact that everything is straight, it will really look odd. Now if the whole dash was tilted toward the driver, that would be totally different.

As far as the picture looking like it is angled toward the driver, I don't see it in this picture but I can't find the SEMA one everyone seems to be referencing.
