Here's a rendering of the new console. What do you all think. I thought about making the "CROSSFIRE" part on top open so it could be back lit but after running it, it's not gonna work as the middle parts of the "R's" and "O" wouldn't be attached to anything and when I added small bars to connect them, it looked like crap.

Enjoy!

As far as the picture looking like it is angled toward the driver, I don't see it in this picture but I can't find the SEMA one everyone seems to be referencing.

No dude, it doesn't have to be angled toward the driver. Who said that? I said just make sure its a copy of that console. See how it fits the cutout where the lighter and ashtray were right along the bottom line? thats what I meant. That way you don't have to change the shifter surround as well.

You could just laser engrave the CROSSFIRE onto it. It would look much cooler than plain. Good work!

Yes its awesome! If you could just make the replacement panel which bolts right in all anybody would have to do is re-route the buttons? And install the radio? doesn't sound to hard.

The crossfire part would be recessed about an 1/8" - 3/16"

Yup, exactly what I was thinking. Can you even dream to make this part?

That's the idea!

Now I just need to get parts so we can get something put together to get blueprinted and then it's off to a car near you!

Correct. We would be able to bypass that step completely if someone was able to get the CAD drawings of the dash from DC/Karmann but since that's not gonna happen, this is really the only way to get things done.

Looks great although personally I would prefer not to have Crossfire etched into the panel.

Everyone wants one like yesterday but the fact is we still need to make one from scratch and see how we are going to make it before we can even begin to think about prices. I'm thinking that we may do this similar to how JonnyAngel is doing the pillar pods and see who wants to put their money where their mouth is. I don't mean to offend anyone by this but without proper funding, things are going to happen at a slower pace.

I understand.

On another note, I am planning to get a new digital camera on Monday, and I will then post some pictures of the console I have started. I currently have it cut and the resin and matting in place. I now need to rough-sand to get a basic fluid form. After that, I need to fill and sand, then sand, and sand...and fill. And then sand, sand, prime, paint, clear....and then....

Start the part near the e-brake handle.

I agree - you should not have to foot all the R&D costs. In exchange, the group who throws up the cash get theirs at a discount...
