drivers power seat controls quit working for no reason. passenger side still operates. fuses fine.
any clues were to start the search? the seat heater never worked from the time i got the car but power seats worked no nothing.

My guess would be a loose connection on the motor or switch or the motor itself is shot.

Cool Re: drivers seat inop

Check the connector under the seat, also check the heated seat connector while you are there also.

Probably burnt up the seat motor............M-B had an issue with that for a while.

I couldn't tell you any of that info..............the last time I saw one replace was when I was working for M-B of Houston back in 2002(and they were replaced under warranty). First you need to find out if that is in fact what's wrong with it. Best bet is to jump the seat motor with 12volt power(and ground) and see if it moves..........if it does then your switch is probably bad.

It's bolted in with an E-Torx on all 4 corners of the track. I don't know if your SLK has a front cover panel under the cushion......but on my SRT it is exposed and the motor is in plain view and so is the connector/wires. Mine has two wires...........one black with red stripe and one white with red stripe.

a bit of a twist here. noticed today when i sit in the seat and start the car my seat belt chime isnt working. before the seat belt sign would lite up chime and blink if you didnt connect the seat belt. now the sign lites up no chime and no flash.
also the seat is plugged in but no way to test it in the car. cant get my hand in there to disconnect it. is there any way to move the seat so i can get to the torx bolts in the rear to remove the seat?
at a standstill right now due to no longer having the manuals online to refer to

Talking Re: drivers seat inop

I pulled mine out to lower it. I had power and exposed the bolts.

IT is a heavy mother to pull out

Go to the wiring manual and see if you can get to a connector to see if there is power going to the seat connector. see if there is power on the circuit

aLSO I would sit and push the buttons while jiggling like craze in on , start position, and accessorie position.

Slam the doors too to see if there was a loose connector.

the manual starts with the fuse.then test the main plug. then wants you to pull the side cover and test the switches. problem is the seat is all the way on the floor and i cant get to the tiny friggin screw that holds the side cover on!!! if i could raise the seat up i would pull the whole seat out and set it on a bench to work on. im about out of ideas.
tried sitting and jiggling slamming the door key on off doorr opem closed you name it. im sure its something under the seat that involves the seat belt chime and switches but i cant get to it!!

those of you that said loose connection win!!!! under the seat by the console side midway back is a plug.
when i moved the seat all the way forward i must have pulled it loose and returning the seat back it popped out. first look it seems fine but pull on the wires and it moves. now getting it plugged back in was no small feat. the seat is down and back as far as it will go. by jamming my hand between the seat motors and various bars i could just reach the plugg and push it in . now i will tell you the tie wrap ends holding the wire harness will relieve you of some much needed skin!!! but now my seat and seat belt chime are working. thanx guys!!

Another reason I'm the only driver of my cars.
Never have to worry about moving the seats, 'cept to clean of course.

I had this problem last year.
Took the car in for new tires and they moved the seat. I moved it back and a week later tried to adjust it on a long trip and it wouldn't move.

Took it in for service thinking it would be covered under warranty. Service writer informed me that if it was a broken wire it would not be covered under warranty and I was looking at a minimum of $350. There was no way I was going to try to get my big mitts under the seat to unscrew the bolts so I told them to go ahead.

Cost me $425 when they found a broken wire. The mechanic told me he NEVER wanted to do this again, took him hours to work his hands under the seat and unbolt it.

Unfortunately, in doing this and removing the seat he destroyed my sills and scratched my paint. Probably cost the dealer $500 to repair all the damage.

thats simple a case of wiring. i mean the wiring may be discontinuous at some places or may have a short circuit. check for the switch first

Hey guys . . . I seem to recall when I took my seat out to repair the heater, that the connectors have a spot to slide a tie wrap around them to hold them in place. It may be possible that this tie wrap is broken from your connectors, allowing them to pull apart. If you are able to, I would suggest pulling the seat up from the mounting (once you get the bolts out) and then take a tie wrap to hold the connectors together - just like the factory did . . .

Just my Two cents worth . . . .

Cheers

Mark

My problem has been the switches in the control on the side of the seat
.The internals of the switch bend and the contacts arc so they become in operative.
Especially the forward and back as my wife and I share the car.

It has gotten to the point where I have to disassemble the switch and press the contact down.
