Default Help please with removing door pulls

I am just wanting to get my door pulls completely off. I got to here by using the door panel removal thread....

6-2.png

Now, I want to get the back plate off. Do I have to remove the door panel to get it off? I loosened the screws on the back plate, but still cannot remove it.

The chrome is peeling on the back of the hand pull, and I am concerned someone will cut themselves. I am going to cover them in a CF wrap.

I have not pulled the crossfire's door trim panels as of yet, but most door panels have some kind of retainer to hold the pull strap/ bar in place on the door panel, which are on the back side of the panel, check the threads, I think you are still going to have to pull the panel if you want to remove the whole pull handle assembly.

The silver pull handle is glued behind there it also has little ridges that kinda hold it in place. I just yanked on mine and it pulled out. I wouldn't do that becuase it could break the door I guess I just got lucky.

You have to really work it. There are for tabs on each side that you've to manage to get undone. It's not an easy job but take your time and you'll get it. If you pull to hard it is possible that you'll break the pull.

Thanks Howard. That is the thread that got me to the point I am now. In that thread, they do not mention taking the back plate off as it is not necessary for what they were doing.

I have tried pulling to the point I was concerned about breaking something, so I decided to back off and see if others have just removed the pull handle back plate.

Thanks for the input. I will try again to see if I can pull it out knowing that there are tabs and glue that must be overcome. I was thinking that worst case, I would try to mask off the panel around the pull, and try to cf wrap the back plate in place.

bob try popping the door panel off before yanking. with the panel removed via the link you posted you should be able to see behind the panel and see whats keeping the handle on.

Don't pull away from the door either. You've got to get the tabs free first

Ok, sounds like the safest bet is going to be taking the door panel off. I guess I need to see if I can find a panel popper tool somewhere to purchase. Thanks everyone.

Oh, I am going to try to do a dry look cf on the door pulls and the center console. Here is what the product looks like.

it is Neffy Wrap at Neffywrap.com, Home of the Original Neffy Carbon Fiber Wrap. Lots of guys on the Lexus forum are using it and seem to love it. You use a spray adhesive. They recommend 3M Super 77 spray adhesive.

Go to a place like Harbor Freight...and get the little pry bars for door panel removal...to pry carefully until they pop out...a small pry bar like you would use to remove nails or trim molding will work, but the plastic removal tools are easier on the interior...just go slow...don't yank on anything...good luck

I plan on using the silver wrap for the center console... please let me know how easy it is to work with. The broad flat areas seem easy, but the tight corners and radii around the HVAC buttons seem like punks.

I just asked for some small samples. It says the material is .4 mm thick (.016").

Should be pretty pliable. Check out their online gallery and the How To Install...

I also ordered some today I really like the look and wanted to play around with it and see how difficult it was to wrap ,,, please post pics when you get a piece done ,,,I look forward to seeing how it comes out, Like Max said it's pretty thin so it should wrap pretty well ...I bought the silver ....
