You don't need no stinkin' pictures...

Really, it is easy to do. I have changed over other members cup holder in hotel parking lots.

Follow the thread below, very helpful. Be sure to read at least down to post #8.

I changed my cupholder out a couple of weeks ago, very easy. There are pictures here on this site somewhere, I don't recall where. the only clarification I needed was on the two nuts inside of the console storage, they are under the carpet on the bottom rear, under a flap of carpet it is hard to tell from the picture. I didn't unhook any wires just rolled over the console. 20 minutes tops.

You don't have to remove the carpet there is about a 3 inch section at the rear\bottom that is made to be pulled back just for this reason. Just pull it up\back and it will reveal two nuts that have to be removed. On a manual car pop up that plastic piece that surrounds the shifter from the rear of it and you will be able to remove the two phillips screws, don't worry you won't break it. The hardest part of the operation is removing the rubber handle cover of the parking brake. Different people use different things to help such as wd 40, soap etc. whatever works for you. Whatever you use there will be some armstronging involved as it is only held on by friction it just needs to come straight off. After that you should be able to remove the console section by just moving it around. There will still be a wire or two but don't worry about them just lay the console over on a towel, for scratch prevention being careful not to pull on the wires too much. Then take the cupholder out, it has 4 small torx screws. The bin can be slid in after you put everything back together.

Thanks Larry for the great pictures. I'm not only planning on replacing the cupholder in my 2005, but also running an aux cable from my Kenwood radio into the center storage bin. I'll post some pictures if I successfully complete the task. Thanks again, sincerely

Jerry

Factory rebate? ........

A cheaper bin that fits is from Saturn and the hole for the cup holder has to be made bigger by 1/8" to 1/4" or so. Squirrel Crusher did this first, thank him.
Here is the link to the Saturn part.

Thats the one.. when I posted that link could have sworn you could go to a purchase window.. but it's not listed now.. try this one..

1998 SATURN SC SERIES Parts - GM Parts Center - Call (800) 313-7380 for New Genuine Parts for Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Geo, GMC, Hummer, Oldsmobile, Pontiac

Could have sworn it was a 10 dollar date too.. now it's $15 to get in the game..

I just clicked the link and it looks like it is the "storage tray 1997-99 diagram item #5? It says that the part is discontinued on the first page but still lets me add it to the cart? Do you happen to have an installed picture?

I actually just tracked down the part and link.. the original "founder" got his from a salvage yard and I don't think he actually posted pics..

I noticed you've already been here though.. it's all I've seen of his install..

You know looking back at it now.. I wonder if you couldn't just "undercut" the main body at the front to fit it right in without console modifications There's enough meat in the console you shouldn't have a gap of any sort..
