Interior paint removal?
Might anyone know what I should use to remove that shitty *** interior paint that covers up a wonderful black textured surface that would have looked a thousand times better to begin with?!

Mine is in pretty good shape still but I have a few areas where the black is showing through the gray overlay. It's rediculous that these cars didn't have the various colors be ingrained just like other cars.
Anyway, I haven't tried it yet, but I'm planning on getting some shoe polish / leather polish in the gray that matches my car and touching up the few worn places on my console area instead of trying to take all the color off. You may want to consider this as an alternative, or atleast until you figure out how to convert it over to black.
Gook luck.

You might be surprised at how inexspensive it would be to get it all wrapped in leather. This is an option I will be considering down the road...
This will be a much easier surface to maintain, and the stitching on the edges will be an exquisite look.
The pebble finish on mine is holding up fairly well, but there are indeed some minor wear patches near the E-brake/arm rest area.

Mine is terrible ill post some pics. My car came from a lawyer who drove it rarely untill his wife divorced him and took all his other vehicals. That left him with the xf and a car seat in the passengers seat that rubbed off the grey overlay on the glove box on the center console everywhere!! So I think im gonna try a small spot thats hidden by the seats or pull the glove box out and and try the inside of it till I find a method that works well.
Thanks for the input guys!!

I used the same method 180 pointed you too only I used paint thinner and it worked fine. It took me a few days I removed everything even the steering wheel and painted it all with interior paint I got from advance auto. I wouldn't consider any other type of spray paint this stuff worked awesome and on hot days you couldn't smell paint at all inside. This stuff held up great the entire time I had the car I was surprised! Good luck and do your self a favor look up the tutorial on how to tear the dash apart it's do able but a huge pain in the a$$ lots of hidden screws. I ended up trading my head light switch for a black Mercedes one and I bought black air vents on eBay under slk 230 because I couldn't get the paint off them.

i will remove the panels as soon as I can.
thanks again for the tips!
By all means - use the method ChuckNorris mentioned in that thread! Had I known that before I did mine, it would have saved tons of time, plus made the finished product much nicer!!
I'm not sure what the end result of brake fluid is because I didn't go that route. I brushed thinner on the panels outside in the sun waited for the paint to bubble up then pressure washed them at 2200 psi the thinner made a nice rough surface to apply the interior paint on. Even digging with a finger nail after it was good and dry showed no signs of weakness. I'm sure if you soaked them in thinner it would eventually ruin them but I saw no advers effects from my method. I wonder if anyone has painted the seats with his stuff? I was shocked at how well it adhered. With the panels and center console out its a good chance to fix your cup hold if its broken add or run amp/sub wires. I added rear subs that fit in the oem spots and added the bass mod to the door speakers what a difference very impressed with results.
