Why do the doors sound so cheap?
The doors on my SRT sound so cheap when you close them, and God forbid close one of them with the windows down--sounds like you pulled up in a Geo. They are so light, that it literally sounds like something is breaking when you close them. All of my passengers have a tendency to close the door too hard because they are so light, so this one is remarkably worse than the drive door.
Is there anything I can do to help insulate this? Does anyone else have this problem?

My doors are heavy and solid. I agree that closure with the windows down results in a less than solid sound but many cars sound that way.
I retract my statement--the doors are, indeed, good and heavy, but the passenger door in particular sounds like something is loose inside when close with the windows down.
Same here. My red roadster was nto like this. I intend, SOMEDAY, to take the panel off the door and look at the integrity of the window regulator assembly.
Yea I have that same problem. They creek and squeak. When pushing the door open or when you are riding. I hate it. If you have the same problem that I have. I think the problem is a lack of thin felt in between the different pieces of door panel plastic. The panels are so tight they rub together. It's a common tactic car companies use to reduce the squeaks buy putting some thin felt in there. Maybe Crossfires don't have this. I'm not taking the door apart to find out. It's built like a tank, but that squeak makes it sound like an 85 Buick.

Ah! Good info, and thanks for sharing that! A really noisy driver side door was one of the first things I noticed with my '05 SRT-6 convertible when I bought it. It actually has a couple of different issues.
First, when you open or close the door, you hear the hinge make a "pop" noise. I'm not sure if this can just be fixed by lubricating the right spot, or if something is actually worn and needs replacing?
But with the window rolled down, yes, something vibrates in the door when you shut it. I assumed it was the window glass itself, loose in its track when it's rolled down. But sounds like it's a known problem with something else inside there then!

Can't remember if there is a TSB or not but the noise when closing the door with the window down is documented. I am not sure if that is the regulator or the track hardware but there is actually something loose in there hence the sound. Dealer can fix but I know they were breaking the interior door handle in the process for some people, searching door shatter or other door noise like terms should get you more info. Mine does it but I don't have the windows down when closing enough for it to bother me. Will prob take a look when I replace door speakers.
The trunk.. it's terrible. The stoppers on the trunk have worn away the paint on my xf. And the slamming.. the last time I went to Country Buffet in Mi, the customs officer felt the need to show off to his friends and just gave her nuts. I thought the car was going to bounce up off the pavement.
The doors with the windows down makes me every time I close them. Even if you try to do it gently, you still get that noise.

We have very "clunky" doors. But according to one of the new VW commercials, doors that close with a loud clunk apparently indicates that it's great quality.
I was going to add, my doors are heavy and very solid, a trait usally shared by all german autos, I have had no issues with squeaking or any other noises that sound funky

I don't slam the doors when the windows are down.!!
You may want to check the guts of your doors. Has someone taken the soundproofing out? Mine sounds solid & Aussie I also have a '77 Eldorado Biarritz and when I slam the doors the only noise those doors make are compared to a bank vault shutting..
