Weird noise under dash
Weird noise under dash
I'm sorry if this is the wrong thread to post this on but ever since I got my Flowmaster installed something under the center of my dash vibrates and it wont stop unless I let off the gas pedal. I've ignored it for awhile now thinking it'd go away. But it never fixed it's self. It vibrates loudly and it seems like it's located around the ac unit. But doesn't sound like it's coming out of the vents. Has anyone had this problem before? Could someone help please? Or maybe someone could tell me how to take the long main dash peice off my crossfire. It's a 2005 Alabaster N/A crossfire. Thanks guys!

Same time as my Flowmaster.
Hmm! Let me think.
Re: Weird noise under dash
If the system is touching somewhere or not dampened by a rubber hanger it may just vibrate and transmit the noise through a part of the car that amplifies it.
Is it actually a droning noise?
Re: Weird noise under dash
Man I hate that.. when someone jumps in and post just what you were fixing to..
Re: Weird noise under dash
But do you have to stroke 180's ego that hard? LOL.. If nothing in 180's suggestion turns up.. there are a couple threads on removing the center console. Could be as simple as a harness connector not liking the new notes from the exhaust and vibrating on the plastics. I'd start with just pulling the stereo out and maybe wrapping some of the wiring.. just moving it around could resolve this.
I've had a friend carbon fiber wrap my interrior and I watched him take it apart so i'm kind of knowledgable on how to remove it and i've read a few dozen forums on it. So i'll definitely try out your idea. Hopefully it fixes it so I can enjoy my flowmaster again. I haven't yet found a link to remove the big long black piece. And i'm not gonna ask anyone to go searching for it as that'd be to much work. But if your idea doesn't work. Have you ever heard of any threads talking about taking it off the car? Maybe I haven't looked long enough.
Re: Weird noise under dash
Letting off of the gas and the noise stops makes me think one of two things :
Either the Flowmaster installation is lacking some clearance somewhere
or
your motor mounts are shot, letting the engine torque up when under power.
Do you still have the OEM engine cover installed ?
If so, check the hood pad and see if the cover has been rubbing - sure sign the mounts are shot.
