Re: A/C problems
The A/C is shut off by the ECM for the following reasons:
The Climate controller module in the console also plays a part here. The controller won't engage the compressor unless the cabin fan is on at least a "1" setting, that is, if you don't have the fan running the A/C is locked out. NOW, I am unsure (since they have never released an actual diagram or document on the Climate Controller) if the module is watching just the fan switch position OR if it is watching the output of the module being sent to the "fan resistor". If there is a fractured solder connection in the climate controller module's fan circuit (and that has happened and it means the cabin fan does not work), then I'd suspect the A/C would be locked out. If the cabin fan is running while the A/C is not working, I'd dismiss this as a cause.
- High engine temperature (not sure if this is the same sensor as the temp gauge or not)
- If the ECM loses control/communication with the Fan Control Module (the module that runs the engine cooling fan, not the cabin fan)
- An indication that the system (Freon system that is) is of either too high or too low pressure
- A throttle position of 'full open' or near full open (indicating that to the ECM that you are demanding maximum power, maybe for passing)
- Probably other reasons that I don't know about
- Probably other reasons that I do know about, but cant remember right now

Re: A/C problems
You might be experiencing the intermittent operation of the HVAC module due to loose connections between the control boards (there are 2). There is a write-up on this in the forum. Attached is a PDF file I made of the post. One of the major DIY fixes by a fellow XFire owner. A lot of us get plagued by intermittent operation of the HVAC system. Hope this helps.

Re: A/C problems
If you cannot find it you should look in my problem index below. It has been there since posted it, I slightly added to it It is in the AC section funnily enough, sometimes I think that I will abandon the thread and not keep it up to date as it takes time to do but it has been read over times so I guess someone reads it, just not you.

Re: A/C problems
I like the updated version. Nice having the HVAC Module removal procedure as an initial step before repairing the HVAC module per CL770's write-up. Nice job!

Re: A/C problems
I was hoping someone else would respond; You do not give us much info to work with.
First off it is not a "keypad". What you have pictured is the HVAC Control Module.
Start by reading through these threads in the Heating and Air Conditioner Section : Index of Crossfire repairs
PS What ever you do DO NOT take it to a dealership!
