Default White faced gauges

Some previous threads mentioned using the gauge cluster from a Mercedes SLK 320 in our Crossfire's to achieve white faces on the gauges. They also mentioned that doing that we would lose the correct mileage on our car and have the mileage from the donor car. I may have missed it or forgot a thread about just changing the face of the SLK item but can that be done? Just remove the gauge face's on the MB cluster, then remove the faces on the XF cluster and replace them with the SLK faces. That way we would keep the correct mileage on the speedo, and have the white faces. Another thing that I noticed, small but noticeable, is the temperature gauge on the MB is in Celsius.

If anyone has done this, or knows of a video showing it being done, or photo's of it being done, please let me know. The MB SLK gauge cluster's are available on Amazon and ebay for a reasonable price. I tried to find just the gauge face overlay's on the internet but had no luck for the Crossfire. Plenty of them for GM, Ford, and the Japanese imports, but not the Crossfire.

I welcome any constructive suggestions or idea's as well as personal experiences on the subject.

Jim

180 - That's it! Thank's. That gentleman made reference to the fuel gauge not working after the face change. If the gauge face is the only thing changed, why wouldn't the fuel gauge still work as before? Any ideas on that, or did I miss something?

You missed something, he installed the complete panel and could never get the fuel gauge to work. If you are just doing the overlays there is no problem.
