Default Circulating fan won’t stop running....

I am a 1 year owner of a 2004 automatic and have come upon my first problem after a 45 minute drive. After I turned the key off I discovered the circulating fan was still running. Checked the fuse which was ok, and replaced it with the spare to make sure. Still running.

Nothing else seemed out of whack, so I disconnected the negative terminal. And here I sit with my jaw on 8 knuckles.

surly, this has happened before......a cold One for the answer !

Is the REST button depressed? If so the fan will run until the brain determines the battery has lost enough power, or you hit the button again. In AC mode it's used by some to dry the heat exchanger to prevent bacteria growing.

Thanks for responding, onehindred80. I don’t remember the REST button lit and when I hooked battery up and started the car, the button was not lit

tried fan on & off, AC, Heat, .........nothing changed or effected the fan.

got dark, disconnected battery and poured a cold one. I like to sit and think and stare off. My wife thinks I’m a deep thinker.

The fault is probably a shorted circuit in the fan resistor or the AC control panel with all the ***** and dials on the upper console. Have a look at the circuit in the Service Manual.

A year ago when I was buying this car, the previous owner said......” don’t ever go in a high speed car wash “

Onehundred80, your previous post mentioned a few things to check out and the 2nd one was an article written By jefferyallison “Crossfire Blower Motor and Resistor Bench Test”
and he goes on””””””””””First I will say, that it appears that there is a real problem with drain tubes in the cowl area clogging up and water (especially after a car wash) getting down into the blower motor box and damaging parts. In fact this is what happened to mine.””””””

I never go to car washes but a new automated one opened last week and I took all3 of my cars for free super delux washes. I’ll bet this is it !

ill let you know. And thanks

JoeO, so far nothing here is advice I would give unless I was a Chrysler crossfire service department bent on generating funds for the dealership. Based on your replies to date I believe your problem needs a few more suggestions not yet explored. Good luck!

The area was pretty clear when I Cleaned the engine last year, but I never paid much attention to the cowl. Thanks Sussudio

and to GraphiteGhost......”this is like learning to play that cornhole beanbag game where you just keep getting closer”. All of a sudden it goes in

That explains it all......

In case I wasn't clear enough, your replies (to help) to date (those who REPLIED to your concerns) didn't seem to help much with your concern/issue.
