Minnesota X-fires
well, mark, today you not only saw 2 of them but ran really well them too. To all MinCross members meeting today, I just wanted to say how much fun it was meeting y'all, hanging out and them having John lead us on those really fun rides on two of Wisconsins' bluff roads. It was really a great great time, and I'll look forward to seeing you guys again. Thanks for bringing your wives too, that was really nice. Mark
Michelle and I had a great time!
It's good to know so many great people own these great cars! Here are sum pics for your enjoyment! Thanx again everyone, and we must do it again....
May and I had a great time too. So sorry we had to leave a little early, though. We hope to see you all again too. Here's a picture of all of us at the Legion!

I got this definition of "cruise - to travel about without a particular purpose or destination" which is how I like to drive my X-fires.
[quote=kalway]Karla And I (Gene) - This was a great day with a great group Karla commented that "I guess your not the only one who keeps your car that clean" I washed it when we got back before Erik and I cruised Saint Cloud.
We had a great time as well and I also washed the Crossfire when we got home. We've gained many life long friends over the years with the DeLorean and look forward to the Crossfire offering the same. We really enjoyed meeting everyone and look forward to the next time we can do this.

Coming back to good old St. Paul on the 21st! I can't believe I haven't driven the XF for almost 12 full months. Do any of you Minnesota natives have any tips on how to start the car if it's been sitting in the garage for a while?

Are you just coming home for a visit?
Hope you put in fresh gas, and stabil before you left.
Or did you run it empty?
If you had a trickle charger you should be good, otherwise check charge condition before starting.
Would be nice to turn it over a few times to build oil pressure before starting as well.
Pull fuse no 11 on driver side under hood to kill coils.
Welcome home.
Welcome back Sonoronos. New Cross sighting here in Apple Valley tonite. Red coupe on 140th and Galaxie, she turned north on Galaxie just as I was pulling up to her so she didn't see me I don't think. Never saw that red coupe before, so maybe not an AV resident. Anybody from here. Nice looking coupe.
I'm back in the Twin Cities for 2-3 months to get my house in order, then I'm planning to move permanantly out to Washington DC to work - need to rent out or sell the house by then!
Thanks for the advice and welcome, GDC and mdaniels! Yes, I rolled back into beautiful Minny monday morning and the first thing I did before unloading my luggage was open the garage door and make sure my little XF was doing ok in the garage! Just the way I left it except for some dust a good washing won't cure, heheh.
I made some rookie mistakes - I left the battery on the car and it died sometime in the last 12 months. Checked the voltage and it is around 11.8 V. I tried jump starting and the car does nothing but make a clicking noise and the interior lights blink as I try to start the car - I have a feeling the PCM doesn't like having a dead battery in the loop. I'll have to siphon out my old gas and put in a fresh charge.
Thanks for the fuse 11 trick!! I will use it.

It lives!
I replaced the battery, pulled fuse 11, cranked the engine for about 10 seconds (about 3-4 times) to circulate oil, then put fuse 11 back, started her back up and she fired right up!
The only odd thing was a very loud lifter tick from the engine bay. After driving the car around about 20 miles, the lifter tick went away and it hasn't come back since.
Now I've already put 200 miles on her and she's doing just like the day I bought her....I forgot how much I love this car.

That is fabulous news.
The reason I suggested turning it over without starting, Was in hopes of getting the lifters pumped up, as well as oiling the entire motor.
Good it quieted done after a bit.
What a great day it was to burn fossil fuel, I was through Inver Grove around One this afternoon. had some errands to run on South Robert trail, Darn road construction at 55.

Hey all,
Just an FYI to all the MN & WI Crossfire owners that the Osceola Wheels & Wings show is September 12th. This is a great show that features mostly original or slightly modified cars and motorcycles. My wife and I have gone the last two years and she loves going to it. In the past, I've entered my SRT-6 alongside Sheldon's Limited roadster to represent the Crossfires. Not sure if I'm going to take the Crossfire or my 1984 RZ350 this year. Go to the Osceola website for more info but things included besides the car/bike show are a Craft fair, Osceola airport tour/displays, Polaris tours, Art Explosion, Vintage Airstream tours and the train rides.
Hope to see some of you again!
John
P.S. Welcome back Sonoronos! You picked the best time of the year to come back.

I do believe my wife Stacy and I will attend in Osceola. probably bring the Cross, just to let it say it met up with its' friend the DeLorean! Or we might ride the bikes, depending on the weather for a nice ride up the St. Croiz, where I'm pretty sure a MC group that I belong to also will be going too. too many choices for one fun day. Looking forward to seeing you all then. Mark
BTW GDC sound like you've got a great time planned. hope you have a ball!

It is a great time of year to be on a motorcycle.
And you have a great time as well.
Does anyone want to meet up somewhere to go to Osceola this coming weekend, or meet up someplace up there at the show? I also think it would be good if there were a way to identify our group as there are probably new people who have never met each other. I will be wearing a black crossfire T-shirt.
BTW, I was at Saturn of Bloomington on Saturday looking at some cars with my brother in law, we had been out riding the bikes around, when I come back from a test ride and parked next to mine was a SSB roadster. Never did see who the owner was. Anybody on here? I did take out a used NA Sky out for a test, and it was really slow. It was a 5 speed, but had no guts at all. Rode ok, a bit smoother than the Cross, looked nice but boring as all get out. Maybe the SC version would have been more fun. Mark

Hi John, Bruce and Mark. I may be able to make it out to Osceola on Sunday. I'll bring my Black Base '07 Crossfire Coupe. My wife has other plans that day, so it would just be me. Maybe I'll see you folks out there....
