That makes them a good judge of cars anyway...

Have we heard anything further from InMotion regarding any competitive pricing offers, or are they going to come in with a low ball price right at the cruise and try to pull the rug out from under TVT? I don't know either of the two, but I'm sure some of our fellow -N-E-X- Members must have dealt with them somewhere along the line.
It would be nice to hear from fellow members about their experiences with TVT or InMotion.
The Newport Cruise is coming fast. Let's keep our fingers crossed that the weather will be perfect for that day. Everything is coming together as far as members bringing all the food and condiments that will be necessary for a great cookout. Do we have a definite count on how many will be participating so we have a better idea on how much stuff to bring?

If you look on the Newport Performance thread, you'll see that Inmotion is offering tuning for $300. I don't see why TVT can't do the same, especially since everyone uses the same software. Personally I would like to see a SB/Tune combo for $500. I bet there would be alot of takers on that deal! A vendor could rake in some serious cash!

We use similar software with different tunes. I'd rather build the value of the product that I know has been developed strictly for the Crossfire and not just the 3.2L mercedes engine. We can do 315.00 for 5 prepaid orders, but that is as low as we can go. If we lose business for the 15.00 I can live with that. We'll still offer all of our other products and support with any issues that may arise with ours or any other products.

TVT,
I ask this due to lack of knowledge and mean no disrespect. If you can educate us, that would be helpful to our decision making process. A lot of members in New England want to know.
If we have a N/A Mercedes 3.2 and a Mercedes ECU, how is it your tuning software is specifically designed for the Crossfire? We have read on this forum that everyone has to buy the same software from Bosch to do tuning on the Benz ECUs.
From this forum, it seems the only differences in these cars that I have read found so far is that we may have smaller injectors and the same ECU, that is tuned to perform at lower levels than the Benz.
Thanks, Stan

I'm definitely new to this "tune" business. One would think that if Inmotion can offer it for $300, TVT would be willing to match that price. Yet again, will Inmotion and TVT be performing the exact same operation on our Crossfires? Will the end result be exactly the same?
I'm going to start a new topic under the heading of "Newport Cruise Upgrades". I will ask a few simple questions so both TVT and Inmotion can have a better idea of what they can expect when they join us with their wares. Please reply to the questions as honestly as you can so we can get a good count on what people may have done. This may determine any potential pricing discounts.

Basically the tune we do is specific to the Crossfire's injectors, and need for TQ in the lower rev ranges (wheel size, weight bias, etc.) Inmotion is a company that tunes as a business. They aill be able to get better pricing due to larger volume. We are a business that offers tuning, but does not focus on it. I bought the hardware to tune the shop car, and had no means of marketing it. We've had the equipment for a while now and only mentioned for the Dragon meet.
You will not be dissapointed in either of the tunes. Inmotion is a great company and they have been doing this for a long time. If you decided to go further with upgrades from us I would suggest our tune over theirs simply for the fact that is tuned to produce better results with our other upgrades. If this is just a bast tune either Inmotion or us are fine.

To both TVT and Inmotion, please don't misunderstand. The way things are going with gas and all of that, people want the advantage of having the cars done correctly and for the best price. You are indeed correct in your evaluation of your competitor and to say that they are a top notch company, is a good thing. It shows me and, I should hope, the other members as well, that you are a classy business. The fact also remains that you and NOT your competitor, has kept up with the message boards, that speaks volumes as to your desire to truly be a part of this endeavor. Thanks,
Rick (Crossfire Trail)

Thank you very much for the support.
If you are looking for the best price, it will be InMotion, I can not compete. Smaller volume equals larger price point. At 300.00, minus CC fees, I'd be making less then 30.00 a tune. I'd need to sell three tunes to cover teh wireless internet charge (I only use it when I go away). At 315.00 I'm not doing much better, but with 5 people at least volume helps to increase revenue.
I'm not trying to rip any one off, but at the same time need to recoup my investment. If the EURO wasn't worth so much, I'd give it to you for 250.00!

To me, as a business person, it would make no sense for me to pass up a $300 sale because of $15. Even if you have a small loss on one product. Is it worth losing the $300 in revenue? The profit can be made up in other areas. How much revenue will you lose because the consumer is going to use another vendor to save $15? Make your tuning a loss leader because it is what most people want and make up loss on the other products. What does the Euro have to do with the tuning? Didn't you already purchase the software a long time ago?
Let's not forget the Sprint Boosters and other accessories up for sale!

Inmotion,
We haven't heard much from you! Most people are wondering why you are not commenting on these discussions. People are not going to think kindly about someone coming in and trying to sell to us without any prior communication.
Consider this an open invitation to answer some of the questions and issues I have asked of TVT.

TVT & Inmotion,
I apologize for coming off as a hard a** to you guys but,
As a founding member of NEX (New England XFires). I feel obligated to be watchful over the flock!
One of the purposes of the club is to gain access to reputable products at reasonable prices from reputable vendors. Volume discounts, etc.

Just for the record, I'm leaning towards utilizing the services of TVT for the "tune" even though he will be $15 more that the price quote from Inmotion. My reasons are TVT has established a greater presence at the forums, and he is also offering a "try it and buy it" on the Sprint Booster. I've read what TVT has posted and I like what he has to say. On the other hand I haven't read much from Inmotion at the forums.
If I like one company over another, a very small price increase doesn't matter. $15 is not a lot of money these days. It doesn't even buy a quarter of a tank of gas for our XFires these days.

Thank you for that answer. Most of us were not aware that you had to purchase each tune separately. I was assuming that once you purchased the software you could tune all you want. Or are you leasing the software?

North,
Yes it is true, some consumers will go for price and some will follow reputation. Some purchases warrant following reputation and some are based on price. Which is why you have to have both. This is why I have been trying to get both information and pricing from the vendors.
Yes, it is obvious to most that TVT is building his rep with the members and we have heard little from an Inmotion person.
My businesses are built on both reputation (quality service, products) and price. That is the only way to compete effectively in this economy. (Unless you're a large oil conglomerate.)
My reply/questions to TVT were based from a business point of view and had nothing to do with the consumer's point of view about $15. Sorry for the confusion.
