Simajanpa, you are so right. The Weatherall site is best and the way it looks, the cars can be done while we munch. What might be fun is that everyone brings something to share, sort of a big pot luck thing. Just a thought, how about some feedback on that idea.

The number of XFires for the Newport Cruise is steadily increasing! It looks like a great group so far. I know it will be the largest group of XFires I've ever seen at one time. I would imagine we may still add a few more as we get closer to the date of the hookup. I know I'm looking forward to it.

15 and counting!
Yahoo!
It's gonna be awesome!
Hope everyone stays with it!

We are right on track. During the initial stages of planning a few of us had figured about 12 to 15 cars.
Let's recruit some more New England Xfires!!

Looking good, Stan! How soon do you think we'll have specific info re the meeting place and time? I was thinking if we had that I may make up a few fliers just in case I see a parked Crossfire I could tuck the info under a wiper. You never know. We may pick up another participant and future CF.org member.

My wife and I took a late day spin over to Jamestown today to check out the sights.
Of course we forgot the camera, the surf was huge, oh well maybe next time.

So my new observation was this, Fort Wetherall only has one spot that we could all park together. That is the lower open lot, and that has no picnic tables if needed. Not a show stopper, but maybe not the best place for dining after all.

At Beaver tail we would be in the same boat as far as parking and dining go.

What I did ride through today that I missed last week was Fort Getty.
This is a very open area with great views and plenty of breathing room.
It's set up as an RV park, but it doesn't officially open until May 22nd, so there shouldn't be any conflict there.

Of course we still can drive around and LQQK at all of them and then maybe finish at Fort Getty.

So what did the pre-team find out this morning? inquiring minds want to know.

Again, just my .02 observation.

Paul

North , I would say list both areas. I haven't gotten alot of feedback from my area Xfires about the Seekonk meeting spot. Good idea on the flyers.

We have sprint boosters. We'll be bringing them to "try and buy." Pop it in your car, drive it, it you like it we swipe your CC, if not no loss.

Let's try and get as many people there as possible as this meet is so much closer then the Dragon...

Is there a quick way to check to see if I may already have a Sprint Booster in my XFire? I purchased the car with 6000 miles so I don't know exactly if the former owner may have invested in such a thing. If not, and you're willing to let me try one, I will purchase it if I like the test drive results. It is extremely nice of you to may this great offer available.

blackxfire, I just wanted to let you know I am Peter Accardo so I am being double counted. I also have a question. I think it is funny you put an "i" in my last name because that is what a lot of Rhode Islanders do. It doesn't bother me at all, I just thought it was funny.

Well yesterday morning I met Crossfire Trail, at Newport Grand at around 10:15. My buddy johnhayes6 tagged along with his graphite SRT-6. After comparing cars we grabbed some coffee and a bite to eat at a local diner. Sitting at the table in the diner and looking out the window, it was a nice sight, seeing Crossfire Trail's white limited parked next to my saphire silver SRT-6 and finaly johnhayes6's graphite SRT-6. I can't even imagine what 15+ of these babies is going to look like.

After a great breakfeast, the three of us made our way up Thames where we got separated a couple times. It became apparent to me just how difficult it is going to be trying to keep all of the Crossfires together traveling through Newport. We really need a police escort! Anyway we stopped into Belcourt Castle to see how the cars would fit in the lot. Its pretty tight but there is a whole strip of asphalt lined with no parking signs. We were thinking that maybe if it could be aranged ahead of time they might let us line up in that spot because it will certainly accomodate 20 or so cars.

After shooting the sh$t a little more, we made a right out of Belcourt's drive way to make our way down Ocean Drive. It was awesome, I had never seen the surf that rough before. There were actually chunks of concrete in the road from the surf slamming the wall. Crossfire Trail managed to snap a few pics of our three cars together and i hope that he posts those up soon.

We then made our way up to 138 where Crossfire Trail took the lead heading into Jamestown. We toured three different spots to see what we had for options. We first hit Fort Wetherill, then Fort Getti Park, and finally Beavertail State Park. I must admit, I wasn't super impressed with Fort Wetherill or Fort Getti. It seemed that Beavertail had the best views but not a whole lot of tables. I might be a little biased but I really think that Colt State Park is much nicer than all three. Its bigger and has many more sites and tables available. I know that its probably too late to change the park portion of our meet to Colt State Park but its certainly something to consider for the future.

Anway it was a lot of fun cruising with the three cars together, we certainly received our fair share of looks from the islanders. I can't wait for the meet, its going to be a lot of fun no matter what we do.

I'll chime in and say that DAM-SRT's account of events was pretty accurate. I may call the Newport PD to see if we can get an escort, that would be way cool. I'll post the pics tomorrow so everyone can see what the 3 of us looked like. We braved the cold, the wind and the water but the stares from onlookers "PRICELESS"
That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Immagine 15, 16, 20 cars WOW!!!

Hi DAMSRT6, ...Colt State Park is a beautiful spot. Many of the hookup XFires can return home by going that way. The only ones who would be put out by traveling that far north are the folks headed back towards CT. Our jaunt around Newport proper is not that long, and if we didn't do the Jamestown thing out to the southern end, we certainly would have plenty of time to set up at Colt State Park. It would actually be a lot warmer there this time of the year compared to standing outside near the ocean. Some of the participants may not want to do multiple trips over the Newport Bridge so going to Jamestown and then coming back over the bridge again to head for Bristol, may not be popular.

I know I wouldn't mind going to Colt State Park. I don't think our itinerary is chiseled in stone yet.
