I can't say enough how much I enjoyed and now I'm jealous we don't have more closer to home. I hope none of you mind if I steal some pics for the website. Next time I make it up there I'm getting a hotel the night before so I don't need to sleep on the way back.
I'm going to have more help at carlisle and hope to do the same installs again. No labor charge of course, you can tip the help if you want. When we're in the new shop everyone is invited to get some serious mods installed!

As far as my inital assessment of the ECU Tune, refer to my reply in the "Newport Performance" thread. I purposely didn't do the Sprint Booster yet so I could do a better "before and after" assessment of the tune. Then when I finally try the SB I will be in a better position to pass judgement on that mod.
It was great to meet you on Saturday. You missed quite a lunch at the cookout. You really missed out on Jen's homemade Turtles. Those were fabulous! I would like to make a motion that Jen brings her Turtles to every Crossfire meet/hookup/cruise.

I put my grill on last year, and like it alot, I think it looks just right.
Peace
Paul
I'm glad I saw your grill when I did. I walked right over to Anthony (TVT) and asked him to put one on for me. I think he may have had only one or two with him.
Another mod I looked for at the Newport Cruise was the rear fascia panels that fit under the rear bumper. Not one attendee had them that I saw. Maybe they aren't that popular a modification in this area of the country.
Another mod I looked for was a wind restrictor. None of the roadsters on the cruise had one in place. Unknown if they left them home but we all had the tops down.
Another mod I looked for was custom exhaust. I didn't hear anything out of the ordinary on the cruise, and everyone seemed to have the stock exhaust tips in place.
Did I miss any of these mods on the Newport Cruise?

I know this isnt going to post in the right place.. but im sure my comrads wont complain. So you all know my check engine light was on during the last cruise.. so i took it in.. and 12! yes 12 sensors were bad... then they realized that it wasnt the sensors but the main computer... so they are replacing it..
FYI ..... i found out that the aftermarket "tune" will void any exisiting warrentee that the cars computer may have.,..at least thats what the dealer said.. im not sure if he was full of s*&% or not. Since they were replacing it i thought well maybe i can get a better one... He recomended to me that if i did that to just wait until the warentee expires then it wouldnt matter.....
has anyone looked into the rules for warantee coverage after a Tune? Or if there ended up being a problem just play dumb>? just curious what precautions you all took who had the tune done.
I cant believe they are replacing the whole computer modual of my car... i am hoping that doesnt mean i will be running into further issues...
any thoughtS????

Hi Jen, ...Sorry about your computer troubles. I think many mechanics are "remove and replace" people who may not understand anything different. I asked a guy at my dealership about the ECU Tune and whether it may effect my warranty. He told me it would not.
I think the best bet is not to tell them the tune has been done unless you get a crackerjack mechanic that comes right out and asks you because he notices different computer settings have been changed.
I think the reason many dealers tell you that any modifications to factory settings may void your warranty is because they figure you did the mods to race the car. They don't want to be responsible for repairing abused cars on the manufacturers tab. But, that's just my humble opinion.

Jen, I can mirror Bob's remarks. A tune, as I mentioned before, will not void your warranty.
I had a problem during the Newport run as well. My transmission was out of whack...really out. It had started slowly with a rumble like going over a rumble strip in the road, It progressed to every time I drove the car especially in 1st to 3rd and downshifting in automatic, it would bind, I started using my auto stick more and it seemed to correct the problem. In Newport, with all the stop and go, it acted up again, I had already made an appointment for Monday so I just tried to drive slowly and not put it through it's paces. On Monday I drove it to the Dealer and took out a Charger as a rental (all covered under my 7 year 70'000. mile warranty) they called yesterday and said that it was the Transmission Control Module (part #05097773A$DGU/ 05127296A$-DGU,DED) This just so happens to be a TSB on my particular car.
It sould be fixed today, I miss my baby and this 07 Charger is really a big pain. I don't like it at all. Gas guzzler too.
Good luck with your ECU. Did you get the tune? Perhaps TVT should be called and made aware. Sometimes things can happen that you don't expect. Good luck!!!

i have a Jeep Liberty..for a loaner.. and its not terrible... BIG in SIZE. I used it last night to move a big box to the trash that i have been waiting to do.. since i dont know anyone anymore with a truck to help.. so it was nice i could do that..
its going to take 5 days to get the part and then she goes back in the shop... hopefully that will take care of the issue...

nightrider and Jen, I got my baby back this afternoon. They did indeed change the transmission control module and it was the culprit. The rental Charger is back and I'm delighted about the whole deal. The only thing that they did is try to upsell me on a transmission flush. I refused and went merrily on my way. The car runs perfect and the transmission shifts as it should.
I'd like to tell everyone that the service was great and the repair was done quickly and efficiently. Jeff Tucker at Linclon Dodge, Chysler and Jeep was fantastic to deal with, honest and very helpful.I now can recommend them highly based on my own experience with them. They also have 2 black '08 coupes on the lot. If anyone want's one with the Black and Cedar interior. The other is black on black. Very nice cars.
So, there you have it. Jen, the Liberty is great, I like it much better than the Charger that I had.
Good luck with your's and let me know how it turns out.

So they ended up clearing the check engine light.. without replacing the computer. He said it was most likely a fluke. And they didnt want to change it without me driving it to see if the light came on again... I said ok. Drove it for 10 miles the light was back on ;( So they ordered the part and she goes back in the shop next week for a new brain...
they put 30 miles on the car.. is that normal??? Im thinking somone took it home... could be wrong.. but i think thats quite a long test drive... I find that irritating.. they also charged me a $4.90 charge for disposal fee! I asked what did they need to throw away? This was warentee work, and they didnt actually do anything other than test drive my car for 30 miles... They said they charge everyone that to cover the cost of throwing away rags ect.. i said .. well you didnt repair anything and i am not paying it. They took it off.. but its something they charge everyone.. i feel like complaining. Seems like another way to get ripped off.. i wouldnt have noticed the charge but i wasnt expecting to pay anything so i looked..
Rick did you get that charge when you took it in the shop?

No, Jen, they didn't charge me a nickle. I don't care what they told you about charging everyone $4.90 for trowing away rags. That's just BS. They figure that women, don't know enough about cars. A 30 mile test drive is just not correct. A mile or even three is adequate, anything more than that is excessive. Then they had the ordasity to charge you almost five bucks? It just isn't right.
I would talk to the Service Manager first, be polite as I know you are, tell him your concerns and if he continues the BS line, then go above his head to Chrysler Customer Service and don't let go. It's the principal of the thing.
Just as an aside, my car started doing the rumble thing again, this morning, not much but it was there. I called the dealer and told them. I'm bringing it in on Monday. I know if you have an issue and it takes more than 3 times to fix it, the car can be declared a lemon. I wonder if that applies to a car that has 26 thousand miles on it? If they want to put a new tranny in that's OK too. I just will miss her. At least they are making an attempt to remedy the situation and are not ripping me off. How far from Lincoln, RI are you anyway.

Well im about 1 hr 20 minutes from Twin River..
I agree about the 30 mile test drive.. i wasnt happy. i will bring it to their attention next time i bring it in.. since he says they want to keep it a couple days after the new computer is in.. ( yes the luight came on the next day and it is going back in) ...
i am not going to let them keep it to test drive. .i will have them replace what they need to then i will take it and test drive.. i will be waiting for the repair to be done..
suck to be taken advantage of... sucks even more that i dont trust this place anymore... once trust is gone.. its GONE! And i am not one to retrust after its broken....
so i will address the isse.. i will let you know what happens...

Yes, it does suck to be taken advantage of, in any way at all. It just isn't right. It especially sucks because I consider you a friend. Not some flunkie that doesn't know her butt from her elbow....you do. You also deserve 1st class treatment.

Jen, what ever was happening with mine, is now gone. I'll just call the dealer tomorrow and tell them it's all set. I want them to document that I did call in case it decides to go haywire again. I also met a guy today in a black roadster, the base model. I told him about this site as well as NEX. He seemed to be really interested. Gave him a few tips about a couple of issues he has and left him at Dunkin Donuts. Let's see if he joins our growing population.

Hi all,
My picture was taken by one of the visiting members during the Newport cruise. It may have been our NY or NJ visitors. I have the black coupe and was leaning over the roof from behind the car in front of the Belcourt Castle. Thanks!

Stan, how soon you forget, I was that one that took it and yes, it's posted. Just go to my gallery and look at all the pictures that were taken.

Rick,
That is not the one I mean. One of the wife's from a visiting owner took the pic in front of the castle not over in the parking lot.
Hey, can I get you to send me some of your pics in a larger format. When my screen saver displays any of your pics they come up as a tiny photo. I noticed the size saved in your gallery is very small.
